MINUTES
Call to Order – 1:00 pm
Members Present – Andy Helmboldt, Mike Myszka, Sue Anderson, Liz Paul, Sarah Kelly, Kurt
Tribbett, Comm. Susan Baldwin
Approval of Minutes – September 2018 – Comm. Baldwin made a motion to approve the minutes
from the September 24, 2018 meeting, seconded by Mike Myszka. All Yes.
Additions or Deletions to Agenda - none
Special Presentations:
- County geothermal presentation by Curtis Smyers, Calhoun County Administrative
Services Manager. Mr. Meyers gave a presentation about the County’s geothermal system.
Mr. Smyers explained the updates to the County’s existing systems and the new systems
that were installed.
Reports
- City energy efficiency activities – Andy Helmboldt reported about the tour of the Water
Treatment facility. Kurt Tribbett updated the committee about the Water Treatment plant
and the water quality.
- Environmental Programs update - Liz Paul updated the committee about the river clean up
and tire collection. Ms. Paul also noted the DNR will test fish in the area for PFAS.
- Planning updates – none
- City Commission updates – Comm. Baldwin noted the Sustainability Plan was presented at
the previous City Commission meeting by Andy Helmboldt.
Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. – Sue Anderson commented on starting a Climate Action plan. Ms.
Anderson commented on the issue of natural disaster plans and what plans are in place.

- none
New Business
- Lindsey and Erin removal – the committee voted to remove Lindsay Johnson and Erin
Augustine due to attendance and to remove Tiffany Welsh. Mike Myszka made a motion
to remove said members, seconded by Comm. Baldwin. Approved. All Yes. Andy
Helmboldt noted Liz Paul was appointed to replace Tiffany Welsh. Liz Paul went to the
City Commission on October 2, 2018. It was approved.
- Andy Helmboldt mentioned the time at which this meeting was held and possibly
switching it to later in the day.
Public Comment - none
Member Comments/Announcements – Sarah Kelly mention a tire collection due to a county
owned house that is full of tires.

- November 26, 2018, 1:00-2:30pm at City Hall

The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally
responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built
infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission
for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy.
