Minutes of a Regular Blue Springs Public Art Commission Meeting
June 13, 2018
A regular meeting of the Blue Springs Public Art Commission was held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at
the Fieldhouse, 425 NE Mock Ave. Chairman Eleanor Frasier called the meeting to order at 3:30pm.

A motion was made by Kathe White and seconded by Greta Hoener to accept the minutes of the May
meeting; it passed unanimously.
“Capricious” Eleventh Temporary Public Art Exhibition: Commission members discussed the
brochure for the upcoming reception. There were no suggestions for changes. Print Graphics will print
and mail the brochure. The brochure printing and mailing will be funded by the Missouri Association of
Community Arts Agencies grant that was received. DVD’s of the art installation were also distributed
for review. Discussion was held regarding the reception to be held on Thursday, June 21 at 6:30pm at
Adams Pointe Golf Clubhouse. Commission members will plan to arrive at 5pm to assist with setup and
preparations for the event.
Taskforce Report on Public Art: Larry reported that the taskforce group is continuing to review
needed maintenance and plans for how & when this will be carried out. Ramone reviewed the progress
he has had in meeting with potential donors and sponsors and identifying key issues that confront this
topic. The taskforce continues to meet regularly to carry out their goals.
2019 Twelfth Temporary Public Art Exhibition The contract with Café has been renewed and is
ready for input of the 2019 display information. Eleanor asked everyone to come to the July meeting
prepared to discuss & agree on a theme, location, and timeline for the 2019 Temporary Art Exhibition.
Old Business: Grant Information: $750 check has been received from MACAA: expect to receive $500
from State Farm Foundation and $400 from Hallmark Foundation within the next month. The
Commission expressed thanks to Jennifer Frasier for her volunteer work with State Farm that has made
this State Farm Grant possible over the past 10 years
Metalabs Contract: Metalabs has submitted an invoice of $525 for the 2018 inspection and cleaning of
BlueSprings.Net. The Veterans Way Memorial pieces were cleaned and the invoice has been paid from
the Veterans Way fund.
“The Ultimate Truth” donor status: $4350 of the $5000 has been collected

“Treasure Quest” update: Great has been working on updated the Treasure Quest maps and will provide
these to Ramon for inclusion in the Taskforce report.
Corks and Canvas: Discussion was held on whether PAC should participate in the Corks and Canvas
event on Saturday, June 23. It was agreed that the PAC would have a tent at the event and PAC
members will rotate throughout to the day to ensure the tent has someone there at all times.
New Business: The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 at 3:30pm at the Fieldhouse
Conference Room
As there was no further business, a motion for adjournment was made by Jeff and seconded by Ramon.
