CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS, MISSOURI MINUTES OF PUBLIC ART COMMISSION TASK FORCE MEETING (August 6, 2018) A meeting of the Public Art Commission Task Force subcommittee of the City of Blue Springs, Missouri was held on August 6, 2018, 9am in the Conference Room of the Blue Springs Fieldhouse with Committee Chair Ramon Magee presiding. Establishing Quorum: PAC BOARD MEMBERS Ramon Magee Larry Randall- absent Jeff Carpenter Greta Hoener Also present were Staff Liaison Justin Stuart, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation CALL TO ORDER Committee Chair Ramon Magee called the meeting to order at 9:09am. Approval of Minutes: APPROVE BOARD Board Member Greta Hoener moved to approve the minutes of the MINUTES July 23, 2018 meeting of the Public Art Commission Task Force meeting. Motion seconded by Member Jeff Carpenter and carried with the following votes: Member Jeff Carpenter – Aye Member Ramon Magee – Aye Member Greta Hoener– Aye Agenda items: COMMITTEE The Committee reviewed five designs submitted for the “Spring For DISCUSSION: Art” mantra. The committee agreed on a final design Ramon distributed copies of the final Conservation and Restoration Task policy with procedure document. After some discussion, a motion was made by Jeff and second by Greta to recommend the document to the full PAC for consideration of adoption. Staff noted the Parks Maintenance division has completed landscaping around the “Quasarc” sculpture. Staff also provided a sample of a clear plastic rod segment that could be used to replace the nine broken glass components. There will be no further action on this until the artist has been consulted. Greta and Jeff will each develop five questions that are relative to a survey about public art that could potentially be presented to citizens via SurveyMonkey or similar method. Ramon has contacted Dale Carter to provide the task force with the process and timelines needed to obtain a city tax or levy increase.  This information will be useful as one of several options to explore.
