HEALTHY BLUFFDALE COALITION
MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, February 11, 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Bluffdale City Healthy Bluffdale Coalition Board will hold a coordination meeting Tuesday,
February 11, 2025, at the Bluffdale City Fire Station #92 Bluffdale, Utah, scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM, or as soon thereafter
as possible.
Meeting Agreements:
● This is an open, public meeting that is being recorded
● Assume positive intent - We are all here with positive intent to help make life better for our community.
● Stay Present - Your thinking is focused on the work.
● Everyone gets a chance to speak - No one monopolizes air time.
● Everyone Listens - You are actively listening when someone is speaking - not thinking about your
response.
● One person talks at a time without interruption.
● Respect all perspectives and ideas
● Start and end on time
● It’s okay to disagree - Disagreement is done respectfully
● It‘s not okay to blame, shame or attack yourself or others
● It’s okay to have silence
● Accountability - Each person is accountable for their behavior.

1. Welcome
a. Icebreaker- intros
b. Acknowledgements from workgroups/events from the past 30 days
i. Prevention Day at Capitol Hill - Brighton Wilson -
Mayor Hall, Kjeirsti, Melissa met with Cal Roberts who is interested in our
work
ii. Stress Busters report - Melanie Morris
Approx 11 youth attending the classes; Proposal/requests to have it
offered again.
Hopes to have it offered regularly as there is ongoing interest.
iii. Beat the Winter Blues report - Brighton Wilson
Successful first event. 100-200 attendees. Positive feedback for ongoing
traction. $4073 spent of budget. Remaining on gift card for Costco at the
City.
Miss Bluffdale’s platform is mental health and aligns with ours. She
would like to work with Healthy Bluffdale Coalition. Melissa will reach out
to her and see how we can partner
iv. Well Connected - Melissa Henderson
Positive experience and networking.
Takeaways: Nicole Carpenter (women’s institute leadership) will come
work with our board to find strengths to work better together.
DNR every kid outdoor adventure challenge with monthly free events.
c. Core Workgroup Report - Brighton Wilson
Key Leaders identified in the community. New facilitator will set the date and
time for the Key leader orientation

b. Items for the Board Agenda for 2/25/25 are due to the Chair by 2/14/2025
3. - Crown Brazilian JuJitzu - Mike Zimmerman
Opened business Oct 2022. Met with city members and had an event recently held with
the Elizabeth Smart foundation for women self defense.
Shared articles about the effects of mental health on kids doing JuJitzu as well as
classroom behaviors.
Partnership with Crown for community members. Only Trauma informed gym in Utah.

Currently 28 youth members.
Working Teens Lifting Teens grant (TLT)
Future Events:
Feb 28th Youth glow in the dark themed dance
Leadership conference at Utah State
And several others
Youth Council Liaison position will be opening in June as her term is ending.
b. Marketing Report -
Need someone else to head up marketing
Also want a content creator work with Ryan with GOAT media to have regular
posts.
Mike has resources that he will share and has offered to assist

Need someone to take this back over. Would be due by the 15th of each month.
d. Workgroup Check In -
i. Screenagers Update - Brighton Wilson
Thursday, Feb 20th @ 6:30pm HVMS-
volunteer needed to open and provide the welcome/start the
film. Michelle said she can facilitate closing discussion.
Brighton will ask Miss Bluffdale or Middle School Student Body
President. Julia can also assist as a back up.
SLCHD will bring SHARPS info and Mental health resources.
HBC will have fliers/info and prizes for drawing.
Brighton will reach out to Summit to promote the viewing.
Would be great to have coalition members there to support.
ii. Workshops Update - Brighton Wilson
1. Staying Connected with Your Teen Workshop -
a. Workgroup -
Plan and secure a venue to hold for childcare options -
Mondays, Starting April 14 at Bluffdale Elementary?
iii. Summer Kick Off - Melissa Henderson
Forming workgroup -
Wanting to combine with Food Truck Tuesday - Date: June 17th
Discussed that we don’t have the capacity to take this on at this
point. Melissa will notify the city to update the calendar.
We need to begin to address Love Where You Live instead.
e. SHARPS Survey Update - Melissa Henderson - Julia Glade SLVHD
111 people have signed up for the viewing!!
No updates. Liz will follow up with Molly Hart on the Summit Board decision.
i. SHARP Media Package available via the SLVHD
Discussion on current marketing company creating social media videos
with the images to push through social media on city channels.
We need marketing workgroup. Julia cannot lead but she can be a
resource.
f. Travel Opportunities & Deadlines - Melissa -
i. UPCA Bryce Summit - Melissa Henderson -
Conference addressing how to create sustainable change in the
community, engage stake holders, access and utilize data and decrease
risk factors. Opportunity to network with other colations etc. June 11-13
anyone can attend
ii. CTC Training of Facilitators, March 25, 26, 27, Cedar City - Melissa
Henderson is registered, but turns out it has to be the hired facilitator.
The next training is not until October and would not work on this grant
cycle. Names for attendees need to be submitted by Feb 28th
iii. Budget Review - Brighton Wilson -
Budget amendment to add a separate line item for incentives.
g. Board Member Application Update - Melissa Henderson
Chair & Co-Chair Needs and the rest of the board positions.
Nominations in May, Voting in June and beginning in July.
Melissa proposes we hire someone to create promotions/posting for
that.
h. Facilitator & Co- Facilitator Update - Melissa & Brighton
Brighton stepping down as facilitator Feb 28th. Facilitator job reposted through
Feb 17. Hurdles with previous applicants being notified to reapply. Question on
whether we separate from the City as our own non-profit or stay under city
umbrella and make clear what we need from them to be sustainable.
Heidi and Camille have experience in that.
Cons of non-profit: need solid board
i. Review City Code and Coalition Bylaws - Melissa Henderson
City Attorney made suggestions and revisions of the Code and the bylaws.
City does not want board youth-parent seat to prevent bias or unfair power. HBC
created this to create safety net for the youth. Need to decide how to proceed
considering CTC requires youth involvement.
