HEALTHY BLUFFDALE COALITION MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 11, 2025 Notice is hereby given that the Bluffdale City Healthy Bluffdale Coalition Board will hold a coordination meeting Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Bluffdale City Fire Station #92 Bluffdale, Utah, scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM, or as soon thereafter as possible. Meeting Agreements: ● This is an open, public meeting that is being recorded ● Assume positive intent - We are all here with positive intent to help make life better for our community. ● Stay Present - Your thinking is focused on the work. ● Everyone gets a chance to speak - No one monopolizes air time. ● Everyone Listens - You are actively listening when someone is speaking - not thinking about your response. ● One person talks at a time without interruption. ● Respect all perspectives and ideas ● Start and end on time ● It’s okay to disagree - Disagreement is done respectfully ● It‘s not okay to blame, shame or attack yourself or others ● It’s okay to have silence ● Accountability - Each person is accountable for their behavior. AGENDA Objectives ● Members will review and celebrate progress ● Members will plan and align on upcoming programs and events ● Board members will strengthen coalition leadership and governance 1. 6:30 pm - Welcome - 20 min a. Icebreaker and introductions - Ashley Taylor - 8 min b. Acknowledgements from workgroups/events from the past 30 days i. Stress Busters report - 2 min 1. Ashley will continue to open for the remaining classes ii. Screenagers Report - 3 min 1. 150 people registered, approx 90 attended. Parents and teens both attended and parents empowered provided swag. Feedback was positive. 4 different episodes available. 2. Jona/Julia will look into cost of holding another event with additional episode c. Core Workgroup Report - Ashley Taylor - 3 min 1. Moving forward with contacting potential key leaders for CTC. 2. Asked for additional references of key leader possibility 3. New contacts in attendance who can be potential key leaders. 2. 6:50 pm - Minute & Agenda Review - Melissa Henderson - 3 min a. January 28,2025 Meeting Minutes b. Items for the Board Agenda for 3/25/25 are due to the Chair by 3/14/2025 3. 6:55 pm - WCG Public Involvement Specialist -Rylie Runyan - 5 min a. Ashley introduced- WCG is an engineering firm working to update our trails, bike lanes, to other cities/locations/parks. 5, 10 and 20 year plans are being created. Feedback will be collected through April and the presented to city council and the commissioners. They would like to get a workgroup together that can walk the trials to assess trails and contribute to how this can be updated. Proposed holding an event to do this walk about. 4. 7:00 pm - Upcoming Bluffdale City Events - Melissa Henderson - a. 3/12 - City Council Meeting 6 pm b. 3/18 - Youth Council Meeting c. 3/19 - Planning Commission Meeting d. 3/22- HAM Radio Licensing Exam e. 3/22 - Miss Bluffdale $10 tickets or $15 at door. Hidden valley middle school 6pm. Volunteer spots still available. One of the contestants has a platform of mental health. Rachel Strong would love to connect with HBC f. 3/25 - HAM Club Meeting g. 3/26 - City Council Meeting 6 pm 5. 7:00 pm - Healthy Bluffdale Business - 45 min a. Youth Council Partnership Report - MH-leadership conference this weekend in Logan. May conference in Price as well to learn leadership skills. UPCA youth Summit in Bryce in June. They have been given $5000 more from the city for their budget. Interested youth can join via the link on Bluffdale City website. b. Marketing Report - MH- we need a coalition member to oversee our marketing. 2 hours/month is the current ask to get things rolling and more sustainable. Can work with the Amanda who is graphic designer at the city. We can partner with Arts council to get each others info marketed at our events. April Jones (engagement chair from Arts Council) Ashley will communicate with Mayor about getting on the city podcast for mental health month. c. Newsletter Report - MH need someone to take this on as well to go in the city newsletter due by 15th of the month. Short blurb. Lynn has offered to take this on. d. Workgroup Check In - 3 min i. Workshops Update - Melissa Henderson/Ashley Taylor - 3 min 1. Staying Connected with Your Teen Workshop - Geared toward adults and teens. Bluffdale Elementary has agreed to host. 2. Lynn and April (Arts council) can assist with childcare during the events a. Workgroup - Need Board Member to lead - hold for childcare options - Mondays 6-8, Starting April 14. e. SHARPS Survey Update/Programing Opportunities via SLVHD - Julia Glade 6, 8, 10 graders take a survey regarding struggles they face every 2 years throughout SLCounty and Utah. Summit Academy does not participate. We met with the Director to discuss changing that. The board unfortunately declined for now. -Julia will share website for evidence based programs offered in SLCounty. We need to decide what programs we want to bring to Bluffdale. Provider service network meeting is April 1st providers who want to get more into the communities. f. Travel Opportunities & Deadlines - Melissa - 9 min i. CTC Training of Facilitators, March 25, 26, 27, Cedar City - Ashley Taylor will be attending. This training is coordinator specific for CTC. ii. UPCA Bryce Summit - Melissa Henderson - Coalition is funding youth council to attend. The adult version is June 11-13. We have funding to take approx 5 additional people to attend. 1. Get a list who is and is not going- MH going, April and Andrew Johnson, Lynn 2. Names of key leaders in the community who we can invite. a. Molly Hart? Kjersti? iii. SAPS Training in May - Julia Glade 1. Utah Skills Application and Prevention Science training. May 12-16 approx 9am-4pm in Ogden- free. Per diem would be provided. Jona attend last year. Substance use especially related to use. g. Board Priorities, & Responsibilities - Melissa Henderson & Ashley Taylor - 15 min i. Application Update - on Bluffdale city website for board member applicants. Arts council is also trying to grow!! ii. Chair & Co-Chair - MH is current interim chair through April. No interest expressed in taking over these roles. MH does not want to step back at this time and has offered to remain as chair through next fiscal year. MH nominated LB to be vice chair. Andrew and Lynn would also be interested in these roles. iii. Board Member Update -Kjersti has stepped down as city rep board member so we are now in need of an additional board member. iv. Review Roles & Responsibilities - Chair role: setting agenda, communication, decision making, repping the group, monitoring progress. Vice chair: supports Chair, leads in absence and assists with communication. LB currently secretary, Jona current treasurer. Lynn was notified she was on city agenda to be voted onto the board v. Review/Amend City Code - HBC bylaws conflict with city code and both need to be updated and aligned for how we select governing board members. vi. Review/Amend Healthy Bluffdale Coalition Bylaws - not addressed 1. Must have a 30 day period of review before they are voted on. vii. Updated meeting times. -not addressed h.
