The following committee appointments were made: o Public Transit Local Advisory Council (4-year terms):  Kirk Kruithof 2. The board approved the request for use of the paved parking area at the former Health Department building adjacent to the fairgrounds in Hartford, for the Van Buren County Youth Fair July 18 to July 23, 2022 was approved. 3. The board approved the request for use of the parking lot at 801 Hazen Street for a Paw Paw 5K Costume Run sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church on 10/29/2022. 4. The board approved the reclassification of funds used to purchase furniture to the Capital Improvement Fund. 5. The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners terminated the Palisades Recovery Plan Agreement with Kinexus Group utilizing the 30 day out clause effective immediately with a final term date of July 12, 2022. 6. The Board approved a proposal from Bloomingdale Telecom to lease a strand of fiber optic cable between the Administration building and the datacenter at the Van Buren County ISD to colocate data backup hardware. The cost is $5,000 per year plus a one-time cost of $1,000. 7. The Board approved the signing of the agreement for the previously approved ARPA funds granted to South Haven Area Water & Sewer Authority for lead service replacement. 8. The Board approved the wage exception for a newly hired Deputy Clerk position. 9. The Sheriff’s Office list of abandoned and unused county owned items were approved to be auctioned through Biddergy. 10. Went to court for the property at 138 E. Main St., Village of Breedsville for a chimney and a foundation that was left in place after the building on top of the foundation was removed. We presented our case to the judge and had testimony about the property needing to be cleaned up the defense attorney said we had no grounds to ask for this to be done and said that the person owning the property probably did not have a proper funding to remove this from the property. ? • Served a citation to CL holdings E. Main St. the attorney had contacted my office and we instructed him to send someone out to clean the sidewalks and cut the grass on the front side of their property the owner complied sent someone out the grass and sidewalk were maintained according to the village ordinances and the case was dismissed. • Served a citation to 206 South Pine St. subject went to court and asked for a trial we had dismissed the trial date because the owner of this property had removed the travel trailers and cleaned up the property which complied with the villages ordinance. • Served a citation to 405 North Pine St. The owner did not respond to court and we received a citation default and the owner was fined for not maintaining grass and weeds. • Served a citation on the owner of number 10 East Main St. the grocery store for long grass and not maintaining the grass. Owner of the property did not respond to Court so we received a default on that citation and the owner was fined. • The property at 00091 East Main St. has been condemned by the building inspector for electrical problems and is not fit for human occupy I have sent a notice to the owner to have this property either corrected or boarded up if not corrected within 15 days. • The motorhome at your property looks like it is inoperable and needs to be licensed or removed from the property and a timely manner you have 15 days to contact me or Page 18 of 25 move the motorhome. In accordance with code enforcement ordinance 2021-11Motor, Home was removed! This is a great opportunity to leverage federal, state, local and private resources toward a sustainable public recreation development program. Applicants are ranked according to a points system, as outlined in the grant application. Applicants will have up to eight weeks to apply. All projects must be completed by Dec. 31, 2026. Available funding A total of $65 million of coronavirus state and local fiscal recovery funds was made available through Public Act 53 of 2022. Individual grant amounts – ranging from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $1 million – will be distributed in three rounds: • Round one: $15 million by the end of 2022 • Round two: $25 million in the spring of 2023 • Round three: $25 million in the summer of 2023 Eligible applicants • Applicants must be local units of government or public authorities legally established to provide public recreation • Applicants may include a regional or statewide organization or consortium of local units of government or public authorities legally established to provide public recreation • An eligible financial match is encouraged but not required • A community planning process is encouraged but not required Eligible projects • Projects must support and enhance neighborhood features that promote improved health and safety outcomes or address the increased repair or maintenance needs to respond to significantly greater use of public facilities in local communities across the state that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. • Projects may include the development, renovation or redevelopment of public recreation facilities, and the provision of recreation-focused equipment and programs at public recreation spaces • Funds may be expended for activities such as, but not limited to, project review, planning, architecture and engineering services, construction, oversight, and compliance activities associated with state and federal requirements, as applicable • Projects must be completed by Dec. 31, 2026, on public land with the primary purpose of providing outdoor recreation Application scoring criteria Applications that address existing park infrastructure will be given priority. Consideration also will be given to applications that complete critical trail projects or provide access to new opportunities that currently don’t exist within a local community.
