MINUTES OF THE CITY OF BRISTOL, TENNESSEE CITY COUNCIL MEETING March 4,2025 CALL TO ORDER: The City of Bristol, Tennessee City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Mark Hutton on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. in the Slater Center Auditorium. ROLL CALL: Present: Mayor Mark Hutton, Vice Mayor Vince Turner, Councilwoman Rae Akard, Councilwoman Margaret Feierabend, and Councilwoman Lea Powers. Others Present: City Manager Kelli Bourgeois, City Attorney Danielle Smith, City Recorder Mary Lee Williams, Director of Community Development and Planning Cherith Young, Director of Finance Hollie Verran, Fire Chief Mike Carrier, Director of Community Relations Jon Luttrell, Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Mains, IT Network Technician Nick Fugate, and other members of City staff. INVGCATIGN AND PLEDGE GF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Hutton gave the invocation and Councilwoman Rae Akard led the pledge of allegiance. AGENDA ADDITIGNS AND / GR CHANGES: None PRGCLAMATIGNS AND RECGGNITIGNS: Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month - Councilwoman Margaret Feierabend presented a proclamation designating March 2025 as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Ms. Christina Moody-Lawson, cancer survivor and local organizer of the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K in association with the Colon Cancer Coalition, was in attendance to accept the proclamation. Ms. Lawson thanked Council for helping to bring awareness of this disease which is prevalent throughout our country and has a very high diagnosis ranking in our community. She also shared information about the upcoming Get Your Rear in Gear 5K on March 22"^. Councilwoman Feierabend mentioned that when she was around the age of Ms. Lawson, the age for colon cancer was around age 55 years and older and it was frequently a death sentence. Now, if it is caught in time it is very treatable, however, it is also affecting people at an earlier age. PRESENTATIGNS: None BGARD GF EDUCATIGN LIAISGN REPGRT: Charlie Taylor, a member of the Board of Education, presented the report. He introduced himself and explained the Board of Education as a whole decided to ask Dr. Annette Tudor, Director of Schools, to attend the City Council work sessions and that the board members would start presenting to Council.
