MINUTES OF THE CITY OF BRISTOL, TENNESSEE
CITY COUNCIL MEETING
January 6,2026
CALL TO ORDER:
The City of Bristol^ Tennessee City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Vince Turner on
Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. in the Slater Center Auditorium.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Mayor Vince Turner, Vice Mayor Lea Powers, Councilwoman Rae Akard, Counciiwoman
Margaret Feierabend, and Councilman Matt Slagle.
Others Present: City Manager Kelli Bourgeois, City Attorney Danielle Smith, City Recorder Mary Lee
Wiiliams, Director of Community Development and Planning Cherith Young, Director of Economic
Development Tom Anderson, Police Chief Matt Austin, Director of Community Relations Jon Luttrell,
Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Mains, Transit Manager Meianie Fleenor, Director of IT Greg Cross,
Network Administrator isaac DeMuth, iT Network Technician Nick Fugate, Director of UtIiity Services
Mark Quickel, and other members of City staff.
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Mains gave the invocation, and Vice Mayor Lea Powers led the
pledge of allegiance.
SELECTION OF MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR:
Mayor Tuner explained the City Charter requires Council to select members to serve as Mayor and Vice
Mayor each year at the first meeting of each year. Fie asked for a motion for nomination of a Councii
member to serve as Mayor. Vice Mayor Powers made a motion to nominate Vince Turner as Mayor for
the coming year, and Councilman Matt Slagle seconded. There were no other nominations, and Vince
Turner was selected to serve as Mayor by unanimous roil call vote without further discussion.
Councilwoman Margaret Feierabend motioned to nominate Lea Powers to serve as Vice Mayor for the
coming year and Mayor Turner seconded. There were no other nominations, and Lea Powers was
selected to serve as Vice Mayor by unanimous roil call vote without further discussion.
The meeting was then recessed at 6:05 P.M. for a brief reception. The meeting was cailed back to order
at 6:16 P.M. by Mayor Turner.
