Roll Call attendance taken as follows: Commission Members present: Commissioner Timothy Heilenbach, Commissioner C.P. Hall II, and Commissioner Ray Williamson Commissioner Members Absent: None Also in Attendance: Police Chief Mike Kuruvilla, Fire Chief James Adams, and HR Manager Brad Mitchell PUBLIC COMMENT: None OMNIBUS AGENDA Approval of Minutes: Fire and Police Commissioners Regular Meeting held on July 5, 2023. Motion by Commissioner Heilenbach, seconded by Commissioner C.P. Hall II to approve the regular meeting minutes from July 5, 2023. Upon roll call, the motion carried as follows: Ayes: Commissioner C.P. Hall II. Nays: None. Abstain: Commissioner Heilenbach and Commissioner Williamson. Absent: None. Discussion Items: A. Election of a new Chairperson. The Commissioners selected Commissioner C.P. Hall II as the Chairperson and Commissioner Ray Williamson as the Secretary. B. Hiring of two Police entry level candidates to the position of Probationary Police Officer. HR Manager Mitchell reported that the two police officer candidates successfully completed their post- offer examinations and have been hired. The two police candidates start the Police Academy on August 28, 2023. C. Fire Department entry level hiring update. HR Manager Mitchell reported that the post-offer hiring process has been started for the next firefighter candidate. The Commissioners invited Village staff and Village Attorney to be present for this discussion. The Commissioners will meet on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. New Business None Executive Session 1. Pursuant to Section 2 (c) (1) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific Village employees. a. No need for executive session on August 21, 2023. Adjournment Motion by Chairperson C.P. Hall II, seconded by Commissioner Williamson, to adjourn the August 21, 2023 meeting of the Fire and Police Commissioners at 6:24 P.M.
