Roll Call attendance taken as follows: Commission Members present: Chairperson C.P. Hall II, Commissioner Timothy Heilenbach, and Commissioner Ray Williamson. Commissioner Members Absent: None Also in Attendance: HR Manager Brad Mitchell PUBLIC COMMENT: None OMNIBUS AGENDA Approval of Minutes: Fire and Police Commissioners Regular Meeting held on September 6, 2023 Motion by Chairperson C.P. Hall II, seconded by Commissioner Heilenbach to approve the regular meeting minutes from September 6, 2023. Upon roll call, the motion carried as follows: Ayes: Chairperson C.P. Hall II and Commissioner Heilenbach. Nays: None. Abstain: Commissioner Williamson. Absent: None. Discussion Items: A. Register for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic – Hiring Status HR Manager stated that there are two open spots in the Fire Department. HR Manager stated that Walker Wells just completed the psychological examination and that Ryan Prevo, the next candidate on the list, would be contacted to determine interest. B. Register for Entry Level Police Officer – Hiring Status HR Manager stated that next Police Academy is in January, and it is anticipated that the Chief will want to hire closer to that time. Chairperson C.P. Hall requested a motion to authorize HR Manager Brad Mitchell to contact the next candidates on the fire list and contact the next candidates on the police list when the Chief is ready to hire. Upon roll call, the motion carried as follows: Ayes: Chairperson C.P. Hall II and Commissioner Williamson. Nays: Commissioner Heilenbach. Abstain: None. Absent: None. C. Final Promotional Eligibility Register for Sergeant in the Police Department is set to expire on January 6, 2024. HR Manager Mitchell stated that this process is anticipated to start in early November at the direction of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Old Business None New Business Chairperson C.P. Hall II stated that he had talked with the Police Chief about setting up a list for lateral hires and that a meeting would be scheduled to discuss further in which he would like all Commissioners to be invited to. Commissioner Heilenbach stated that he submitted his resignation from the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners as of November 1, 2023, and that this would be his last meeting. Chairperson C.P. Hall II thanked Commissioner Heilenbach for his service. Executive Session 1. Pursuant to Section 2 (c) (1) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific Village employees. a. No need for executive session on October 4, 2023. Next Meeting Chairperson C.P. Hall II stated that the Commissioners would be notified if a meeting is needed on November 1, 2023. Adjournment Motion by Commissioner Heilenbach, seconded by Commissioner Williamson, to adjourn the October 4, 2023 meeting of the Fire and Police Commissioners at 6:09 P.M.
