ROLL CALL Commission Members present: Chairperson C.P. Hall II, Commissioner Ray Williamson, and Commissioner Linda Dumas Commissioner Members Absent: None Also in Attendance: Fire Chief James Adams, Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla, and HR Manager Brad Mitchell OMNIBUS AGENDA 1. Approval of Minutes: Fire and Police Commissioners Regular Meeting held on June 5, 2024 Motion by Commissioner Dumas, seconded by Commissioner Williamson to approve the regular meeting minutes from June 5, 2024. Upon roll call, the motion carried as follows: Ayes: Chairperson C.P. Hall II, Commissioner Dumas, and Commissioner Williamson. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. PUBLIC COMMENT None DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Status of hiring from Final Eligibility Register for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic HR Manager Mitchell reported that Candidate #1 had declined and Candidates #2 and #3 were being processed. B. Status of hiring from Final Eligibility Register for Entry Level Police Officer HR Manager Mitchell reported that Candidates #1, #4, and #8 were off to the Police Academy. Candidates #2, #3, #5, #6, and #7 were removed from the list. C. Police Department Lateral Eligibility List creation status and next steps Chief Kuruvilla reported that three candidates were confirmed for oral interviews. Chief Kuruvilla asked the BFPC about availability to participate in the oral interviews. Promotional testing for the Rank of Lieutenant within the Brookfield Police Department HR Manager Mitchell reported that he reached out to IOS, and the written exam will be on December 9, 2024, and the oral interviews will be held on December 20, 2024. E. 2025 Budget HR Manager Mitchell reported that future testing will be included in the 2025 budget. OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Chief Kuruvilla reported that one officer has applied for disability and that the Village is currently holding that position for now. EXECUTIVE SESSION 1. Pursuant to Section 2 (c) (1) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific Village employees. a. No need for executive session on September 4, 2024. NEXT MEETING Chairperson C.P. Hall II stated that if a meeting next month was necessary that it would be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Commissioner Dumas, seconded by Commissioner Williamson, to adjourn the September 4, 2024 meeting of the Fire and Police Commissioners at 6:19 P.M.
