SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 8:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 7/6/2021 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 58/2021 Award and enter into a construction contract with The Shelly Company in the amount of $2,643,655.60 for the 36th St. NW Storm Sewer & Road Reconstruction Project, Phase 2, GP 1270 for the Engineering Dept. Discussion: Per Director Highman, the project limits run from Logan Ave. to Frazier Ave. NW. This work will complete the 36th St. NW project. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 78/2021 Enter into contract with Cargill, Inc. for the supply of road salt at a cost of $46.11 per ton for the 2021-2022 winter season pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 5513.01 (Ohio Department of Transportation Cooperative Purchasing Program). Discussion: Katie Wise indicated that the cost for road salt in 2020-2021 was $59.18. Director Highman added that last year, the City did not overfill the salt domes. Since the price is lower this year, we will load up the domes again. Ordinance 58/2021 Enter into Change Order No. 3 & Final with Northstar Asphalt, Inc. for a cost reduction in the amount of $34,430.10 for the 2020 Paving Program, GP1329, in order to close out the project, resulting in a new contract amount of $3,333,973.02. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced change order. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. Adjournment: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Meeting adjourned: 8:33 AM
