BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes The Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 9:00 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 9:04 AM. Director of Public Service, John Highman and Director of Public Safety, Andrea Perry were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 6/27/2023 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 53/2023 Award and enter into a construction contract with Wenger Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $2,493,449.70 for the 34th St. Area Water Main Replacement Project. Discussion: Mayor Bernabei asked if this project was located at Harrison Ave. Director Highman stated that the project will cover parts of 34th St., 35th St., Washington Ave. and Harrison Ave. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 53/2023 Enter into a professional services agreement with Wade Trim, Inc. in the amount of $236,935.00 for the construction oversight services for the 34th St. Area Water Main Replacement Project. Discussion: Director Highman mentioned that Wade Trim is a newer vendor to the City. The Water Dept. has worked with them on small projects, but this is our first contract with them. The project manager from Wade Trim used to be with Anser Advisory, who has done several projects for the City. Water was happy with the project manager’s work when he was with Anser.  Discussion: Director Highman mentioned that Wade Trim is a newer vendor to the City. Ordinance 54/2023 Award and enter into a construction contract with Wenger Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $2,649,985.00 for the Fairmount Area Water Main Replacement Project, Phase 2. Discussion: Per Director Highman, this project will take place on the eastern side of the Fairmount area, east of Harmont in Ward 6. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 4. Ordinance 69/2022 Award and enter into a construction contract with Stanley Miller Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $2,158,006.95 for the 15th St. SW Bridge Replacement Project, GP1299. Discussion: Per Director Highman, 95% of this project is funded by grant money. This is a rebid because no bids were received the first time. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
