SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes The Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 8:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 8:33 AM. Director of Public Safety, Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service, John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 8/1/2023 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 50/2023 Enter into contract with Fred Olivieri Construction Company in the amount of $249,391.00 for the Council Chambers Renovation Project pursuant to the design-build selection process per ORC 153, which complies with state competitive bidding requirements. Discussion: Mayor Bernabei asked what all will be included in this renovation. Director Highman explained that the existing horseshoe where the Council Members sit will be torn out and replaced. It will now be ADA compliant. The seating area for the audience will be torn out and replaced with ADA compliant bench seating. The flooring will be replaced with carpet squares that the Building Maintenance Dept. already has in stock. The wall partition towards the back of the room will be removed and replaced with coat racks areas. Discussions are being held currently as to where to hold Council meetings during the construction of this project. They could possibly be held at the Southeast Community Center, Civic Center or other locations. Security at those locations will have to be secured. Mayor Bernabei suggested possibly just holding the meetings in the back section of Council Chambers where the table and chairs are now. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
