SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes The Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 8:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Sherer called the meeting to order at 8:32 AM. Director of Public Safety, Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service, John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 5/7/2024 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 3/2024 Award and enter into contract with A & I Health Solutions, LLC in the amount of $91,500.00 for the Removal of Hazardous Materials at the Civic Center. Discussion: Mayor Sherer asked what hazardous materials will be removed. Director Highman explained that asbestos will be removed from pipes and other exposed areas that will be touched during the big Civic Center project. Motion: Mayor Sherer made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Codified Ordinance 551.01 And Ordinance 3/2024 Enter into contracts with Chandler's Complete Clean; Reiss Landscaping, LLC; NEO Earth Movers, LLC; JT Lawn Care; Campbell Landscaping; Manniecured Lawn Services; Dirty Hands Excavating and Restoration and Turf Tenders, LLC for Mowing of City Owned and/or Controlled Lots. These contracts will be funded by ARPA funds in 2024, then the funding source will change to non-ARPA funds beginning in 2025. Ordinance 62/2024 Enter into contract with Motorola Solutions, Inc. in the amount of $114,739.90 for the purchase of twenty (20) portable radios and accessories for Police Department. This purchase is being made through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 9.48 and Canton Codified Ordinance 105.11 which exempts said purchase from competitive bidding. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Sherer made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
