OLD BUSINESS PRESIDENT SHERER: We are now under Old Business and there is no Old Business for this evening. PUBLIC SPEAKS PRESIDENT SHERER: We are now under Public Speaks and we have one speaker for this evening. It is Mr. David Kerestes. Mr. Kerestes, I’d like to remind you that do get three minutes under Public Speaks, and could you please state your name and residential address, please. DAVID KERESTES: David Kerestes, homeless. I’m here tonight to speak to the Safety Director. Down at the Cornerstone, I watch these buses when they’re leaving the… the Cornerstone garage. They pull right out of the parking lot without stopping and looking both ways. Some of them (inaudible) run over the railroad tracks without stopping as well. But I think the biggest part that bothers me is when they go blatantly through the stop sign. I watch it every day, and they never stop. Right on through, violating Ohio Revised Code 4111, which is a stop sign violation. Then I watch the police officers stand there and watch this happen. And that brings me to Chapter 505-491, Officer Negligent in Performance of Official Duties, cause the only way to go through a stop sign is if you’re waived through it by a police officer, and I’m not watching that. I’m watching them violate law and do nothing. Just over in the projects, and I was looking at these projects that went on over there, probably ’92, ’94 when (inaudible) got kicked out of the City for taking bribes. I believe he was the Building Inspector. Um, but I worked for the Berry’s Group over behind Pizza Oven, and we put in gable vents, we did bridge vents and we followed all State’s procedures. Uh, we had a little trouble. Uh, he’s out in Michigan, Berry’s Group. But over here I’m looking at missing gable vents and two man hours of state wage, fifty bucks, seventy dollar vent missing times two. Looking at a couple hundred dollars missing in vents over here. And so, COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS JOURNAL 111 JOURNAL PAGE 200 MINUTES OF THE MEETING JULY 10, 2023 who pocketed that? It would have had to been the people doing the work. Uh (chuckles), I just can’t understand how we see State violation of moneys just wither away. And then I’m looking at the fact that I go around, I look at roofing and these new products that are fifty-five mile an hour wind resistant shingles and… uh, they’re all over the place. But what I don’t see again is venting… proper venting anywhere, which tells me they either pay somebody to not get a permit or didn’t get one. And the problem this would bring is your tax assessment. I look at the tax assessment this way often, looking at new roofs, and there it says no new roofs. Uh, it’s ridiculous how there is counter productive things all over the place and no working together. And then I look at the obscurity of law when I’m in divorce court with John Hornbrook, and my wife’s dating Jim Riddell, the Dessert Storm Canton cop. And why would I give away my share of my wife’s seven years I was married, and I have the right to her retirement that Mr. Hornbrook gives away saying I don’t want this. Why wouldn’t I want it? Cause he knew Jim Riddell? Uh, that’s quite ridiculous… um, but I also see these citizens around here, they’re told their subcontractors show up, we’re paying you this, we’re paying you that. Um, and quite frankly, that’s a violation of Federal Law under Troyer versus (inaudible), which was mandated in California under McCullum versus Sylvester in ’88, so there’s nothing but corruption around here. You can still register to vote for that… uh, for that election until nine o’clock today at the Board of Elections, and also early voting for the Issue 1 August 8th Special Election will begin tomorrow.
