Planning and Zoning Commission REGULAR MEETING March 9, 2016, 7:00 PM 13133 E. ARAPAHOE ROAD MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Suhaka called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM. 2. ROLL CALL Those present were: Chair Suhaka Commissioner Baird Commissioner Cohen Commissioner Hart Commissioner Halcromb Commissioner Sims Commissioner Sutherland Commissioner Urtz Those absent were: Commissioner Bailey Also present were: Derek Holcomb, Planning and Engineering Manager Jill Hassman, Assistant City Attorney Michael Gradis, Planner II Jennifer Wood, Recording Secretary a. Alternate Selection for Voting Purposes Commissioner Halcromb was appointed voting member in the absence of Commissioner Bailey. 3. CONSENT AGENDA Commissioner Hart moved approval of the CONSENT AGENDA. Commissioner Sutherland seconded the motion. With Commissioners Baird, Cohen, Halcromb, Hart, Sims, Sutherland, and Chair Suhaka voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; the motion was approved by a vote of seven (7) AYE and none (0) NAY. a. February 24, 2016, Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes 4. LAND USE APPLICATIONS/PUBLIC HEARINGS a. Beekeeping - Update and Proposed Ordinance Michael Gradis, Planner II, presented. Commissioner Sims moved to recommend approval to City Council of the proposed amendments to the 2011 LDC as outlined in the staff report dated March 9, 2016, with the following modifications: All references to bee species, found in sections 2(b), 2(c) and section 4, shall include Africanized bees and/or hybrids. The hive box setbacks from section 3(4)(c) for interior side and rear be modified to ten (10) feet and by default, increasing the hive box setback to ten (10) feet shall strike the requirement from section 3(4)(d) for openings to hive boxes face towards the interior of the lot. In the event hive box openings do not face the interior of the lot, the hive box setback shall be increased to ten (10) feet orientation. The condition that hive boxes shall be kept in sound and usable condition of section 3(4)(d), be stricken. Commissioner Halcromb seconded the motion. With Commissioners Baird, Cohen, Halcromb, Hart, Sims, Sutherland, and Chair Suhaka voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; the motion was approved by a vote of seven (7) AYE and none (0) NAY. 5. UPDATES Derek Holcomb, Planning and Engineering Manager, presented the updates. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 8:21 PM.
