Phone: 301-715-8592, Meeting ID: 850 8946 6427 Opening Roll Call Staff Liaison Katherine Shor was in attendance Present 5 - Chair John Weis, Vice-Chair Susan Lyons, Scott Levitan, Megan Patnaik, and Heather Washburn Approval of Agenda The Commission approved the agenda A motion was made by Washburn, seconded by Patnaik, that the Commission Page 1 of 4 Community Design Commission Action Minutes August 17, 2023 approve the agenda. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. Announcements Petitions Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Chair Weis, seconded by Levitan, that the Council approved the meeting minutes. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. 1. June Minutes [23-0600] Commission is asked to review and consider action on June minutes report. Consent Agenda A motion was made by Levitan, seconded by Washburn, to approve the consent agenda. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. 2. 300 Market Street [23-0601] Commission is asked to consider action on a sign plan for Southern Village. Available actions are approval, approval w/ conditions or deferral. New Business 3. CDC Discussion [23-0602] Commission members have requested time to discuss their own priorities, issues and concerns. The Commission discussed applicant materials, staff liaison coordination and agenda preparation. Commissioners asked for additional information on how applicants implement design principles of the Commission and how developers might coordinate with the Commission more. The Commission also requested an update on the petition to Council on the status of affordable housing in Blue Hill. Staff offered to refer the questions from Commission members to colleagues to get more information. 4. Transportation Liason [23-0603] Page 2 of 4 Community Design Commission Action Minutes August 17, 2023 The Technical and Policy Committee is updating their membership and has an vacant for a CDC member. This board reviews various Town policies and it re-engaging to discuss the BRT project. The primary task of the board member is to act as a sounding board for project details on a policy level. Meeting requirements are typically 1 meeting per month, w/ meetings lasting approx. 1hr. Commission is asked to provide a volunteer to serve as the CDC liason to this board. Commissioner Levitan expressed interest in this role and requested additional information. Adjournment Next Meeting - Tuesday, Sept. 26 Order of Consideration of Agenda Items: 1. Should any member of the Body or any member of the public fail to observe this charge at any time, the Chair will ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that individual regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will recess the meeting until a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed.
