CITY OF CHEROKEE VILLAGE, ARKANSAS
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Roll was called by Clerk Deb Weichinger. Present were Carr Hills, Eddie Ishmael,
Chuck Kristopeit, Pamela Rowland, Thomas Rupard, Rob Smith, Steve Thompson,
Mayor Stokes, and city attorney Jon Abele. Absent: Jerry Adams.
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: Mayor Stokes asked to change the agenda to have
comments /questions to city related business prior to the executive session. Council
Member Smith moved to approve the amended agenda, second by Council Member
Kristopeit and passed unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS: ( limit 3 minutes per person)
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ( May 20, 2021): Council Member Smith moved to
approve the minutes, second by Council Member Rupard, and passed unanimously.
CORRESPONDENCE: none
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Council Member Thompson moved to approve the May 2021
financials to be filed for audit, second by Council Member Rowland. Roll call vote
passed unanimously. Mayor reported revenue stream is very positive for first six ( 6)
months of the year.
MAYOR' S REPORT:
Mayor acknowledged and recognized retiring Police Chief Rick
Crook for his year of service from 2009 -2021. Mayor announced Sargent Monte Lane
will be the new Police Chief effective July 1, 2021.

Notice of hearing: Hearing for Raze and Removal of Lot 3, Block 1, Pueblo
Addition.
City Inspector Thomas Swiatkowski stated no response has been
received to three ( 3) notices sent. Mayor asked for a motion to resolve Raze
and Removal.

seconded by Council Member Kristopeit. Roll call vote passed
unanimously. Resolution to order the Razing and Removal of a Nuisance on the
Property Lot 3, Block 1, Pueblo Addition to Cherokee Village Subdivision ( 6

Cherokee Village), Sharp County, Arkansas (

1. Tiffany Evans — discuss basketball goal(s) for youth: Ms. Evans addressed
council regarding the desire to have basketball courts for the youth in town.
Mayor Stokes advised Ms. Evans to speak with S. I. D. about courts.
2. Ordnance 2021 - xx: An Ordinance to Regulate Unregistered, Wrecked or
Junked Vehicles Within the City Limits of the City of Cherokee Village,

After some discussion, Council Member Rowland made a motion to
change the wording in Section 3,( 1) ( c) to read No more than two ( 2) hobbyist
permits will be issued for an address at one given time per year.. Motion second
by Council Member Smith. Roll call vote passed unanimously.
Executive Session — Personnel:
Council Member Smith moved to adjourn for
executive session,
second by Council Member Rowland. Mayor adjourned the
Regular City Council meeting at 7: 00 PM to Executive Session. Regular City Council
meeting reconvened at 8: 47 PM. Mayor stated no action to be taken in public session.

Council Member Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 8: 47 p. m.,
second by Council Member Thompson and meeting was adjourned.
