TOWN OF CICERO TOWN COUNCIL STAFF MEETING MINUTES MAY 11, 2023 at 7:00 PM Call to Order: President Blueher called the meeting to order. Present: Chad Blueher Absent: Jerry Cook Joe Cox Eric Hayden Chris Lutz Others Present: Rhonda Gary, Clerk Treasurer 1. Town Council – a. Financial Crimes Task Force – Mr. Cox and Chief Rednour talked about the pros and cons of the task force. In the end, council was in favor of moving forward with a contract if Mr. Culp is ok with the contract. Ms. Gary will add this to the council meeting agenda. b. Rate Study – Removed from the agenda. c. Tollgate/County – Brief discussion on the CCMG for Tollgate Rd. 2. Parks – a. Community Building Roof – Superintendent Hunter reached out to a couple of vendors to check the roof on the community building. There is possible wind damage. Ms. Gary will check on the town’s deductible. b. Pickleball Courts – Superintendent Hunter has been approached about additional pickleball courts from the community who would contribute to them. In the end, council approved up to $20,000.00 for the courts. c. Dog Park – Superintendent Hunter updated the council on increase use of the dog park. d. Pool Foundation – Superintendent Hunter met with Ms. Henderson to discuss grant opportunities for the Pool Foundation. The subject of a park board came up again. Superintendent Hunter stated that he would like to wait until early fall to discuss that again. e. Horizon Bank – Superintendent Hunter relayed that employees from Horizon Bank assisted in planting flowers Tuesday. f. Open Marina – Superintendent Hunter said that the marina will open this weekend. g. Veterans Causeway – Superintendent Hunter reported that he was approached about a plaque for veteran Mike Drake. h. Kids Fishing Day – June 3, 2023 from 9:00-1:00 is kid’s fishing day. Friends of the Park will have activities, hotdog, etc. Cicero Police and Fire will also be there. i. Superintendent Hunter will be on vacation next month. 3. Plan – Plan Commissioner Zawadzki had nothing. 1 4. Fire – Chief Overholser was not present; however, President Blueher asked Ms. Gary to add the EMS Fee Schedule to the first council meeting in June. 5. Police – Chief Rednour had nothing. 6. Water/Wastewater – Director Cooper had nothing; however, President Blueher relayed that he was approached by a resident about the issues on Stringtown Road. He stated that the new asphalt is crumbling in places, there are large drop-offs and the stripping looks bad in places. Director Cooper was not aware of these issues but will take a look at them and report back to the council. 7. Clerk Treasurer – a. Audit – Ms. Gary said that although there is no scheduled date, an audit by the State Board of Accounts is coming soon. b. Conference – Ms. Gary will be in Fort Wayne for conference June 25-29. c. Olympics – Ms. Gary will be out of the office June 9th for Special Olympics with her son who is a swimmer. d. Insurance – Ms. Gary has been approached by Appel Insurance to give a quote for the town’s insurance needs. The council didn’t object to getting a quote. 8. Project Coordinator – Mr. Strong stated that there is a meeting at town hall on 5/12/23 to discuss grant opportunities. Mr. McGoff, Mr. Clevenger and Ms. Henderson will be attending.
