COMMON COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, November 12, 2024 - 7:00 P.M. Common Council Workshop Special Meeting Common Council Chambers Special Meeting Began at 7:15 Roll call was taken. PRESENT: EXCUSED: Mayor Keeler Council President Biggs Council Member Izzo Council Member Higgins Council Member Soloyna Council Member McCarthy Council Member Frainier Public Comment: Paula Brewer from League of Women Voters Discussed the 2025 Budget she understands the city has seen an increase in cost losing 2 significate sources of income between Norlite and Mohawk Paper. The City has not raised taxes in 5 years she is wondering if it is time to consider investing in the future of the Cohoes Library. She would like a building condition report or a new Library location. Manny Santos: Discussed the short term rental licensing fees. He feels they are going to be high and the inspections and turnover will be to quick. Sean VanSleet: Asked about when Leaf Bag collection day is? Mayor Keeler told him that collection day is the same as Recycling day. Amanda Primeau explained they are currently doing double runs and working overtime to get them collected before our first snow fall. Sean has noticed a rise in people checking and breaking into cars in the city. Mayor Keeler advised we are using our Police Patrol. Ordinance No. 8 for the year 2024 An Ordinance approving the City of Cohoes 2025 Annual Budget Council Member McCarthy made a MOTION to approve Ordinance No. 8 for the year 2024. Seconded by Council Member Soloyna. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No. 51 for the year 2024 A Resolution appointing Commissioners of Deeds for the City of Cohoes. Council President Biggs made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.51 for the year 2024. Seconded by Council Member Higgins. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. Resolution No. 52 for the year 2024 A Resolution approving the purchase of one Henderson plow equipment package for use by the department of Public Works. Council Member Soloyna made a MOTION to approve Resolution No.52 for the year 2024. Seconded by Council Member Izzo. All members voted “AYE.” The motion passed. At 7:29 PM Council Member Higgins made a MOTION to adjourn. Council Member Soloyna seconded the motion.
