MINUTES OF THE COHOES ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD IN THE COMMON COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF COHOES CITY HALL ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mrs. Joyce Baranski, Vice-Chairwoman Mr. Michael Briggs, Chairman Mr. Mark Cotch Mr. Gary Sawyer ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Kara McKnight, City Planner CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES FROM June 28th, 2017 Chairman Michael Briggs called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and the consideration of June’s meeting minutes passed unanimously. YES NO ABSTAIN Michael Briggs X Joyce Baranski X Mark Cotch X Gary Sawyer X CONSIDERATION OF A VARIANCE AT 9 TANGUAY DRIVE The applicant, Mark Clark, explained that his lot size is about 8,500 sq. ft., which is smaller than the required 10,000 sq. ft. lot size recommended for a car port, however the existing garage cannot accommodate his vehicle due to its clearance height/width. He is planning to situate the carport even with the front edge of the house to ensure he’s meeting the rear lot line setbacks. There will be a gutter installed on the port that will cast the rain runoff into the back of Mr. Clark’s property and have no effect on any of the neighboring yards. The applicant stated that there are a few other homes on his street that have carports and they all fit in with the character of the neighborhood. He spoke with the neighbor directly adjacent to his yard and she said that she was okay with his plans. No neighbors voiced any negative opinions about the proposal. Member Sawyer motions for the approval and Member Baranski seconds it. The vote was unanimous and the permit was approved.
