Old Business Approval of the January Minutes The committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the January 22, 2018 meeting. A minor correction was made to the spelling of Parkdale. Mr. Toledo made a motion to approve the January meeting minutes with the correction. Second by Mr. First. All members were in favor and the January meeting minutes were approved. UMD Community Outreach Tabled until the March meeting. EAC Grant Presentation Ms. Bernache and Ms. Mahoney attended the grant presentation at the City Council’s meeting on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. One more presentation is scheduled for the City Council’s meeting on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 for Greenbelt Middle. Next year, the $2500 grant winners should receive presentations at the City Council. Bookplate Ideas Ms. Higgins presented the group with several versions of bookplate labels to use for College Park Day. The committee selected option 4 from the selections. New Business Proposed letter supporting ban of AR-15/gun control issues The committee discussed an option of writing a letter proposing to the Mayor and City Council to support the ban. Mr. First suggested to the committee to look into purchasing a doorstop that clips onto the classroom door to make the door locked down so no one can enter into the classroom. Mr. First also suggested using an app that goes directly to the police. This discussion will be continued at the March meeting. EAC budget The committee reviewed the FY 2018 budget to establish the FY 2019 budget. The FY 2019 budget changes are as follows: Leave the grant budget as is. Move $600 from the classified ads to student events. Reduce meeting refreshments to $150 and add to award /gifts. UMD Summer Camp Applications A page was added of frequently asked questions as well as a flow chart. An additional change to the application to say those entering kindergarten through 12th grade will be made for next year. The grant applications are out and a few applications have been received. The 20,000 grant for the summer reading program was also received for this year. March Meeting Date The next meeting will be held on March 19, 2018 at 7:30pm. Adjournment Mr. Toledo motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Ms. Wilson. The meeting adjourned at 8:50pm.
