I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m.
II. Approval of Agenda
Ms. Araghi motioned to approve the agenda. Ms. Ellis seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0
III. Approval of September 14, 2015 Minutes
Correction:
Page five (5) should read: Mr. Bradford’s daughter IS THE MARKETING
MANAGER FOR JBG DEVELOPMENT COMPANY and she OFFERED TO can help
with printing fliers BECAUSE SHE LIKES THAT LINE OF WORK.
Page four (4) should read: This is TOO to close for promotions
Page three (3) should read: Another possibility is the Archie Edwards Band or the
instead of the solo/duo act.
Ms. Oarr motioned to approve the minutes as amended. Ms. McCloud
seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0
An additional correction was presented by Ms. Araghi: Page five (5) should
read: Audio Events Services will provide LED lights for the outside INSTEAD OF
THE CANNED LIGHTING.
Ms. Araghi motioned to approve the wording. Ms. Ellis seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0
IV. Treasurer’s Report for September 2015
Ms. Ellis motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Ms. Pianowski
seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0
V. Recent Events
a. College Park Day - 09/26/2015
Ms. Araghi reported the College Park Blues Festival banner was hung on
the fence at the entrance to the venue.
Franklin’s Restaurant of Hyattsville sold three (3) or four (4) different types
of beers that they produce. Boordy Vineyards offered wine samples and
sales. This year’s event had two (2) stages with many choices for music.
The following performers were noted on the event program: Supreme
Chord, Eli August & The Abandoned Building, ReFreshed Band, Black
Masala, Belanus & Anderson, Deanna Dove, Chronic Blue and the Build 4
Comfort Band.
Ms. Araghi suggested that the organizer should do a better job at
promoting the bands next year REPORT THE BANDS MORE.
b. Attick Towers Senior Prom – 09/27/2015
There were not many participants for the Attick Towers Senior Prom so
the event was changed from a party to a pot luck. Twenty-five (25)
residents of Attick Towers attended. There were no non-residents. The
Dee Jay was wonderful and the seniors enjoyed the music. Mr. Ryan

suggested Ms. McCloud reach out to local youth groups to see if
multigenerational events could be arranged.
Mrs. Ellis mentioned a sorority sister of the Aging In Place Committee is
interested in creating an event for seniors. Ms. Ellis will forward her
contact information to Ms. McCloud.
VI. Future Events
a. Grandparents Day – Spellman House (TBD)
This event will be rescheduled until a future date.
b. Blues Festival – 11/14/2015
Ms. Moran stated the stage has been reserved and she will reserve the
inflatable wavy guy.
Ms. Araghi wondered if Ritchie Coliseum or Park and Planning had some
drapes to buffer the sound. Ms. Moran will check with the Arts department
to see if they have any that can be portable.
Ms. Araghi reached out to Drape King but had no response to date.
Audio Events Services will again provide the stage lights and have
volunteered to hang drapes if they become available. Ms. Araghi will email
Mr. Grimm if Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center has drapes and may be
willing to lend them.
Mr. Ryan will look into hanging the other College Park banner on the side
of the College Park Fire Department temporarily until it can be moved to
Rhode Island Avenue after the Halloween Thing.
Ms. Araghi has not heard back from any of the professors at the University
of Maryland to involve the students in the event. Ms. Araghi does have
the name of twelve (12) dance places to promote the event and possibly
have a dance outing.

She reported that she has yet to hear from anyone at WMUC radio, but
indicated that VFW members would make themselves available for
interviews.
Ms. Araghi also reported that the DCBS Battle of the Bands was
scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Wheaton American
Legion. One of the bands preformed at the Hagerstown Western
Maryland Blues Festival and the winner would perform at the College Park
festival.
Ron Hicks, performing Chicago Blues- rock and roll will be the opening act
for the College Park Festival in lieu of an acoustic band.
Confirmed vendors are some returning artists, All-State Insurance and
Carle KARL ____ who dresses up in wild clothing and sells MANY TYPES
OF JEWELRY.
Mr. Bradford will get the donuts from Raulin’s Bakery for the set up crew.
Ledo’s confirmed they will provide food for the artists.
c. Breakfast with Santa 12/12/2015
Mr. Bradford will get a smaller quantity of donuts from Raulin’s Bakery.
Ms. Moran will look into entertainment for the event and the
coffee pot is in its box and ready to go.
VII. New/Other Business – suggestions, new ideas, comments
a. Mr. Bradford, his son and Wade Price have discussed having a Battle of
the Bands for next year either in May or August. There are two (2)
possible bands- Higher Education who is currently touring and Prinze
George who is from New York COLLEGE PARK.

The Board discussed possible locations to hold this event. Some ideas
are: Herbert Wells Ice Rink (when it is ice free), the Moose Lodge on
Metzerott or the American Legion on Route One.
Mr. Bradford, his son and Mr. Price discussed either three (3) or four (4)
bands.
They are considering a request of $500.00 from the Recreation Board
once their plans are formalized. They will also ask for financial and/or
other support from the College Park Arts Exchange and The College Park
Community Foundation.
b. Eric Grims has not been present at three (3) consecutive meetings. Mr.
Bradford will send an email to see if he would like to continue to be on the
Board.

IX. Adjournment
Ms. Araghi motioned to adjourn. Mr. Bradford seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0
