I. Call to Order Mr. Bradford called the meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. II. Approval of Agenda a. Mr. Bradford motioned to approve the agenda. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. III. Approval of Minutes- March 6, 2017 a. Mr. Grims motioned to approve the minutes from March 6, 2017 a with name correction. Mr. Toledo seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. IV. Treasurer’s Report - March 2017 a. Mr. Toledo motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Mr. Grims seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. V. Field Use Request a. VFW Post 5627 – Auxiliary Community Sale 04/29/18  Discussion noted that sales are permitted for Non Profit Organizations, however profitable sales are prohibited. b. Mrs. Pianowski motioned to recommend approval of the request to Mayor & Council. Mr. Grims seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. 1 VI. Recent Events a. Lions Club Book Fair - 03/25/17 Event was well attended; recommendation to secure additional chairs for future Book Club Events b. UM Good Neighbor Day - 04/01/17 o The volunteer goal to pre-register 500 volunteers was surpassed, 700+ volunteers participated. The goal for 2018 is to recruit 1000 volunteers. o The event was largely attended and supported by the local business community o Food for volunteers was donated by multiple local business o Food was collected via donations boxes through the Terps Fight Against Hunger initiative o Projects were successfully completed, including edible landscaping at the Community Center VII. Future Events a. Bunny Brunch - 04/08/17 11:00 am-1:00 pm  Discussion about logistics and roles for the day of the event o Set up starts at 10:00 am. o Mr. Grims, Mrs. Oarr, and Mrs. Pianowski will be onsite for set up. Mr. Bradford will cook hot dogs. o Mr. Bradford will work with Mr. Grims to coordinate contingency plans as needed to for shopping, set up, and other logistics. o Ms. Fitzsimons previously confirmed a Magician for entertainment. o Ms. Greene of the City’s Department of Public Works will serve as the Bunny again this year. She has ordered appropriate items to be given away to children. b. Maryland Day – 04/29/17 10:00 am-4:00 pm  Ms. Fletcher maintains a flier listing events sponsored by the Board. Mr. Toledo will be in attendance and help circulate information about the Recreation Board. a. Annual College Park 5K- 05/06/17, 8:00 am  Hosted by the College Park Community Foundation (CPCF)  CPCF received funding approval from the City Council on February 14th for: Insurance, Police & Public Works support, City Hall Parking lot, a complimentary garage, and portable restrooms  The CPCF is seeking for volunteers to serve as Course Marshals as well as persons to assist with registration.  Discussion about the Recreation Board’s potential sponsorship towards the event to include sponsorship of $200 (cost equivalent to (10) entries).  Mr. Toledo motioned to raffle sponsor Registration fees for (10) entries to participate in the College Park 5K. Raffle tickets will be distributed during Maryland Day. Mrs. Oarr seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. a. Fourth of July Band Selection & Rain Date Options for 07/04/2017 2   Discussion held about event venues, outdoor venues, and generators; alternate venues have additional associated costs. The board is exploring the option to offer an alternate rain date for fireworks and no rain date for musical entertainment in the event a cost effective venue is not available. b. New Business –College Park Woods Swim Club a. CP Woods Swim Club is currently in negotiations with the city to acquire the pool, make repair and resume operation of the facility. The club once hosted rentals, swim teams, and members of the community.  Mr. Bradford motioned to make recommendation to Mayor & Council to support the purchase of the College Park Woods Swim Club. Mr. Grims seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0. VIII. Next Meeting : May 1, 2017 IX. Adjournment Mr. Grims motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Toledo seconded the motion.
