I. Call to Order Mr. Bradford called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m. II. Review and Approval of Agenda  Ms. Araghi motioned to add 10th Annual College Park Blues Festival to the agenda. Mr. Grims motioned to approve the agenda with suggested modifications. Mr. Bradford seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0. III. Rules, Procedures and Required Annual Report  The Board discussed the draft of the Annual Report. Mr. Grims motioned to approve the Annual Report with suggested modifications. Mr. Bradford seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0. IV. Review and Approval of May 1, 2017 Minutes  Ms. Araghi clarified details about the Paint the Town Blue Event idea. Mr. Grims motioned to approve the minutes with suggested amendments. Mr. Bradford seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0. V. Treasurer’s Report - April 2017  Mrs. Oarr motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Mrs. Pianowski seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0. 1  VI. Field Use Request  Holy Redeemer: Calvert Hills Playground 08/13 - 11/11/17 (M – F) 5:00 7:00 p.m.; Sat 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. o Mr. Grims motioned to recommend approval of the request to Mayor and Council pending use by the Boys and Girls Club. Mrs. McCloud seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0.  Knight Management – verbal request return to CPCC for Back Pack Give Away – 08/19/2017 o The event was successful in 2016, the Community Center served as an ideal space to host the event and allowed Knight Management to reach more members of the community. o In addition to back packs some give-a-ways included: Books, pens, journals, Pizza, snow cones, cotton candy, and 90 free haircuts were donated. o Ms. Fletcher has begun preliminary steps to coordinate and process the request. Ms. Fletcher will complete an equipment request through Community Connect. Ms. Araghi motioned to approve the request for Night Management to host the Back Pack Give Away at the CPCC. Mr. Grims seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0. VII. Recent Events  Annual College Park 5K- 05/06/17 - College Park Community Foundation (CPCF) o Increased onsite registration 170 participants; Attendance similar to 2016 o Event well attended and supported by the community, good feedback about the community atmosphere from participants and residents who attended. o Supporting local businesses included Nando’s Peri Peri chicken raffle and Shoppers’- fruit, water, and snack donations VIII. Future Events  Fourth of July Band Selection & Rain Date Options Use of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center as an alternate outdoor venue for July 5, 2017 in the event of rain is not an option. Ms. Fletcher has secured an agreement with the band for a postponement date through October 2017 for the band to perform in the event of inclement weather.  Movie Night – 07/21/2017 -Relocation o The board discussed hosting Movie Night at Hollywood Park as a result of construction delays at Duvall Field in addition to advertising and parking logistics. o Ms. Fletcher has confirmed vendors to supply refreshments during the event (snow cones, cotton candy, and popcorn).  10th Annual College Park Blues Festival o Ms. Araghi shared an update about the 10th Annual College Park Blues Festival. One of the featured events during the festival includes a raffle of a guitar donated by a Blues Artist. Tickets are $10, 3 tickets for $25. o A potential headliner for the event is Lionel Young, a Blues Violinist who was well received during the 2016 DC Blues Festival. Bad Influence, Roger Edsall, a local College Park Blues Artist. o Local Vendors are given priority; tables are $50 each; interest in Nando’s Peri Peri’s chicken raffle 2  o Ms. Araghi is drafting a proposal to work with Terrapin Trader to use Testudo the Turtle in a themed costume to promote the festival in conjunction with Paint the Town Blue. IX. New Business  Senior Events for the 4th of July Ms. McCloud is awaiting responses from both Attic Towers and Spellman House in an effort to coordinate a Fourth of July event for seniors. X. Next Meeting: July 3, 2017 XI. Adjournment Mr. Grims motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Oarr seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0.
