I. Call to Order
Mr. Bradford called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.
II. Review and Approval of Agenda
Mrs. Pianowski motioned to approve the agenda. Mrs. Oarr seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0.
III. Treasurers Report
April 2018: Balance remains at $1,698.05
Mrs. Pianowski motioned to approve the Treasurers Report for March 2018. Mrs.
Oarr seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0.
IV. Review and Approval of April 2, 2018 Minutes
Mrs. Pianowski motioned to approve the minutes from April 2018. Mrs. Bernache-
Crocker seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0.
V. Facility Use Applications
A. Berwyn Baptist Church – Soccer Camp @ Duvall Field 07/23 – 27/2018
– Email requesting change of start date to 07/30 – 08/03/2018
Ms. Fletcher reported that Berwyn Baptist Church submitted a request to change the
start date of the camp by one week, eliminating the conflict of field use noted at the
April meeting. Soccer Camp will begin on July 30, 2018.
Mrs. Pianowski motioned to approve the amended Field Use Request for Berwyn
Baptist Church. Mrs. Bernache-Crocker seconded the motion. All were in favor.
The motion passed 5-0-0.
A. AccelerEd LLC – Football Game @ Duvall Field – restrooms and concession
06/15/2018 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p. m.
Ms. Fletcher clarified the rental fee cost and payment details pending approval for
Baaba Quao.
Mrs. Toy motioned to approve the field use request for AccelerEd LLC pending
receipt of a Certificate of Insurance. Mrs. Oarr seconded the motion. All were in
favor. The motion passed 5-0-0.
B. BSA Troop-Annual Barbeque Fundraiser @ Duvall Field-06/03 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Toy motioned to approve the field use request for the BSA Troop. Mrs.
Oarr seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0.
VI. Events
A. Father’s Day Ice Cream Social – Duvall Field 06/17 @ 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Mrs. Toy provided cost details for ice cream and prepared cold treats from local
businesses including: Ritas, Cold Stone Creamery, and Shoppers.
• The Board discussed costs, supplies, and event logistics, some noted points
included:
In previous years:
o The first 100 children received free ice cream, parents purchased ice cream
from the UMD dairy. The City is prohibited to sell food items.
Approximately 200 residents (adults and children) attended the previous
event.
o Proposed time 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
o Mrs. Toy will create a menu of ice cream and prepared cold treats with
photos
o Ms. Fletcher suggested working with the City’s Communications
Coordinator to use EventBrite to publicize the event and gauge a target of
number of attendees for planning purchases.
o Ms. Fletcher will place the order with Shoppers for the Ice Cream variety
pack and Italian Ice.
• The Board discussed possible event activities
o Partnering with College Park Boys & Girls Club to provide Field Activities
o 3 on 3 soccer
B. Fourth of July
The Night Life Band, stage, and fireworks have been confirmed
C. Movie Night at Hollywood Park 7/20
1. The generator request has been confirmed. Ms. Fletcher is working with M-
NCPPC to provide entertainment and activities for movie night before the start of
the movie.
2. September Movie Night at Duvall Field
• A request was received from the College Park Arts Exchange to participate in
honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
• Ms. Fletcher will coordinate a date with the Arts Exchange and order
equipment and a generator once a date is determined.
D. Trolley Trail Harvest Hayride 10/27/18, 10/31/18, or 11/3/18
1. No date has been confirmed for the hayride event at the Aviation Museum. Ms.
Fletcher is working with Andrea Tracey from the College Park Airport and has
invited her to attend a Recreation Board Meeting to discuss partnering with the
Board to host a joint hayride.
E. Proposed Events:
2. Pop-up mini golf
• Mr. Adams emailed information to Ms. Fletcher about Pop-up Mini Golf.
Aaron Marcavitch, from Anacostia Trails Heritage Area Inc. is exploring
options to host pop-up mobile mini golf events throughout the county.
F. Car Show
3. Mrs. Toy proposed facilitating a car show
• The Board discussed logistics and entertainment
o Hosting the event at no cost to residents, once per month June - August,
pending the success of the first car show
o Potential dates: Tuesday and Thursday, formally TBD
o Necessary permits and permission from Property Owners
o Potential locations: Hollywood Shopping Center (near Moms), Holy
Redeemer parking lot, parking lot near The Hotel, or the AMF Bowling
Lanes parking lot
• Local business and vendors to provide food and entertainment
o DJ
o Food Trucks
• Follow up and next steps:
o Mrs. Toy will invite interested community member to a future Board
meeting
o Mrs. Pianowski will contact other community members who participate
in car shows to learn more about planning logistics
o The Public Services Department will contact the property managers of
the Hollywood Shopping Center to inquire about using the parking lot

VIII. Adjournment
Mrs. Oarr made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Toy seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 7-0-0.
