I. Call to Order
Mr. Bradford called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m.
Quorum was not met; no votes were held. Agenda items II-IV were briefly
discussed.

IV. Review of May 7, 2018 Minutes
V. Return of Baseball to Duvall Field – Chris Umstot
Mr. Umstot provided background information about his experience coaching baseball
and the interest to reestablish baseball in College Park.
A. Discussion included:
• Collaborating the College Park Boys & Girls Club to establish teams
• Integration and partnership with local public schools and the University of
Maryland (UMD) to promote baseball and build community relations
• Use of the Duvall Field concession stand and food service requirements
• Field logistics, modifications, maintenance, and necessary authorization from the
College Park Public Works Department
• Efforts to create awareness and reintroduce baseball to the community
• Fall baseball camps/clinics: September-October 2018, 2 days per week
• Launching a baseball league in Spring: March- April 2019, 3 days per week
• Working with PG County to identify existing baseball leagues
• Developing team structures and age brackets
• Coordinating Duvall Field use schedules with the College Park Boys & Girls Club
Rugby, Lacrosse, and Soccer teams
• Exploring the use of Birch Field and Hollywood Park in the Spring to avoid
scheduling conflicts (Hollywood Park field use is managed by the Maryland
National Capital Park and Planning Commission)
VI. Facility Use Applications
A. AccelerEd LLC – Football Game @ Duvall Field – restrooms and concession
06/15/2018 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p. m.
Ms. Fletcher provided a status update about the request. The Board approved the
May field use request at a rate of $30/hour. The approval is conditional pending
receipt of a Certificate of Insurance. Baaba Quao from AccelerEd has not
responded to Ms. Fletcher’s attempts to follow up on the request.
B. Maryland Stingers Women’s Rugby Practice – 05/31 - 07/19 Tu, Th 7:30 p.m.– 9
p.m.
The request is an extension of the current permit. There is no existing schedule
conflict.
Mrs. Toy motioned to approve the amended Field Use Request for Maryland
Stingers Women’s Rugby. Mrs. Hopkins seconded the motion. All were in
favor. The motion passed 4-0-0. Quorum was not met, the vote to approve the
request will be carried forward to the City Manager for further review.
VII. Events:
A. Return of Father’s Day Ice Cream Social – 06/17 at Duvall Field

Ms. Fletcher maintains weekly updates with the Communications Coordinator to
track attendance via Facebook.

B. Fourth of July – The Nightlife Band’s performs at 7:00 p.m.; Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
All logistics and details have been confirmed
C. Movie Night: 07/20 at Hollywood Park
• The screen, generator, face painter, and skate mobile have been confirmed
• Arrival and show times to be confirmed with Mr. Smith from M-NCPPC
-Change in Community Center Director, Jim Bell
D. Proposed New Events: Car Show
Mrs. Toy and Staff have contacted the property owner of proposed site.
• REI Shopping Center
• Mr. Ryan contacted Bill Stein of Carrollton Enterprises
• Mrs. Toy identified non-conflicting dates
-One time-event: 7/28/18 to gauge community interest
-Recurring Thursday nights weekly in the Fall
• Coordinating with Hollywood Farmers Market to host the event in the morning or
host separately in the evening
• Mrs. Toy will inquire about adding vendors to include a bouncy house, face
painters, petting zoo. Ms. Fletcher advised about the use of preferred vendors
for bouncy houses approved through the City’s insurance.

IX. Adjournment
Mrs. Hopkins made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Toy seconded the
motion. All were in favor.
