I. Call to Order
Mr. Bradford called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
II. Review of Agenda
Mrs. Oarr motioned to approve the agenda. Mrs. Bernache-Crocker motioned to
add the Father’s Day Ice Cream Social to agenda. Mrs. Oarr motioned to accept
the agenda as amended. Mrs. Pianowski seconded the motion. All were in favor.
The motion passed 8-0-0.
III. Treasurers Report- June 2018
Balance remains at $1,698.05
Mrs. Pianowski motioned to approve the June Treasurers Report. Mrs. Toy
seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 8-0-0.
IV. Review of June 4, 2018 Minutes
A. The board discussed the official vote for the Maryland Stingers Women’s Rugby
team’s Field Request. The request is for an extension of the current Field Use permit
through 7/19/18. The request was discussed during the June meeting.
Mrs. Toy motioned to approve the June 4, 2018 minutes. Mrs. Bernache-
Crocker seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 8-0-0.
V. Past Events:
A. Father’s Day Ice Cream Social – 06/17 at Duvall Field
The board discussed event details, noted points included:
• An estimated number of 30-50 participants, no official count was conducted
• Left over pre-packaged cold treats were donated on behalf of the Recreation
Board to the Community Center’s Aftercare Program, Youth & Family Services
and Community Center Summer Camp.
• Possible freezer malfunction. Ms. Fletcher will submit a maintenance request to
the Department of Public Works.
• Feedback from residents for increase advertising and to incorporate Field Day
activities in the future
• Consideration of adding the event to Recreation Board’s permanent calendar of
events
Mrs. Pianowski stated that she spoke with Scott Somers, City Manager about the
need for additional equipment at Duvall Field and inside the Clubhouse. Some
suggested items included indoor ceiling fans, bike racks, more tables, permanent
umbrellas for existing tables, and an additional portable grill. Dead tree removal was
also discussed.
Mrs. Toy made a motion to hold an annual Summer Kick Office Ice Cream
Social on the first Sunday in June. Mrs. Bernache-Crocker seconded the
motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 8-0-0.
VI. Events:
A. Fourth of July – The Nightlife Band’s performs at 7:00 p.m. Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
• All logistics and details have been confirmed
B. Movie Night at Hollywood Park on July 20, 2018 – Planned feature “Ferdinand”
• Ms. Fletcher reported that the equipment, screen, generator, and face painter,
have been confirmed
• Possible arts & craft activity: DIY fans made from paper plates & tongue
depressors
• September Movie Night- Arts Exchange: Mrs. Fletcher is working with the Arts
Exchange to confirm the date and will provide an update at the August meeting.
C. Car Show
• Date change: Fall 2018
• Hosting a one time-event to gauge community interest
• Thursday nights weekly in the Fall if the initial event is well received
• Polling on Next Door to gauge community interest for dates, times, and location
• Coordinate with Hollywood Farmers Market to host the event during the Saturday
Market
• Potential partnership with the UMD Mechanical Engineering Department’s Car
Club
• Forming a sub-committee
D. Relaunching College Park Baseball
The College Park Boys and Girls Club (CPBGC) is receptive to the idea of
relaunching baseball. Chris Umstot has been referred to the CPBGC to explore
field use and scheduling options.
E. Ms. Araghi shared details about Blues band entry to perform at The College Park
Blues Festival and the International Blues Challenge.

Ms. Araghi made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Toy seconded the motion.
