Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Jane Hopkins at 7:08 p.m. II. Review and Approval of Agenda Jane Hopkins motioned to approve the agenda. Mark Mullauer seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. III. Review and Approval of April 5, 2021 Minutes Barbara Pianowski motioned to approve the April 5, 2021 minutes with a date correction. Jane Hopkins seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. IV. Proposed Updated Mission and Name Change The Board reviewed and discussed the Recreation Board mission revisions. A. Current Mission: The Board recommends and/or coordinates budgeted recreational activities, such as the Fourth of July entertainment and fireworks, the Bunny Brunch, Breakfast with Santa and other planned events for residents of College Park. Board members work with City, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and University of Maryland staff to secure facilities and equipment for these events. Individuals interested in serving on the Recreation Board should have interest and expertise in entertainment, recreation, sports, social activities, organizational skills, media relations, and consensus building. B. Proposed Mission: 1  The City Events Advisory Board recommends, advises, and assists City staff on budgeted events and recreational activities that meet the interests of the City’s diverse community of residents and additionally, attract visitors to the City. Individuals interested in serving on the City Events Advisory Board should have interest and expertise in entertainment, recreation, social activities, community goals and needs, and community-building. Jane Hopkins motioned to accept the new mission statement. Santosh Chelliah seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. The name change will take affect after formal vote and approval from the Mayor and City Council. V. Spring Event- Scavenger Hunt, Saturday, May 22, 2021 11 am – 2 pm The Board reviewed and discussed the spring scavenger hunt locations, logistics, and parking. A. Locations noted below are being confirmed:  District 1 o Duvall Field o Hollywood Neighborhood Park  District 2 o James Adams Park o Rossborough Inn  District 3 o College Park Aviation Museum o Old Parish House  District 4 o College Park Woods Neighborhood Park o Crystal Springs Fit Lot B. Scavenger Hunt apps and Scavenger Hunt Clue Sheets C. Food- Grab-and-Go items and non-food give-a-ways  The board discussed the participation of local food truck vendors  Gabi Wurtzel noted food truck vendors are currently experiencing challenges to receive permits due to processing delays within the county. D. Volunteers The board discussed availability to facilitate the event:  Set up to begin at 10:00 a.m.  Break down 2:00-3:00 p.m. Gabi Wurtzel will provide the board with details about event tasks for review and feedback from the board. 2  VI. Election of Chair Barbara Pianowski nominated Jane Hopkins as chair of the Recreation Board. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. VII. Next Meeting: June 7, 2021 VIII. Adjournment Jane Hopkins motioned to adjourn the meeting. Barbara Pianowski seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. 3
