The City of Columbia City In Columbia County on the Columbia River PARKS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES OCTOBER 6, 2014 - 12:00 P.M. VETERANS PARK, 62601 COLUMBIA RIVER HWY, COLUMBIA CITY, OR 97018 Present: Sally Ann Marson, Chair Nell Harrison, Committee Member Stan Hopkins, Committee Member Larry Preston, Committee Member Jack Hruska, Committee Member Alta Lynch, St. Helens Elks Lodge Dave Belton, VFW Jason Jones, Jones Sculpture Studio Leahnette Rivers, City Administrator/Recorder Veterans Memorial Park: Members met with Jason Jones to identify the placement of the Phase II monuments, flag poles, and flag pole lights. Committee Members agreed to set the monuments 3’ to the west of the paved pathway, with 7’ spacing between centers, and to center the line of monuments between the paved driveway and the start of the first curve to the north. A slab of concrete about the width of a sidewalk will extend underneath the row of monuments. Flag poles will be placed 4’ behind each monument, and flag lights will be set behind each flag pole. Jason will pour the concrete slab when he completes the foundation work for the monuments. Jason will provide a quote for crafting and mounting a star (one red, one white) on each of the rocks placed near the Blue Star Byway Marker.
