The City of Columbia City In Columbia County on the Columbia River PARKS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 18, 2015 - 5:00 P.M. COLUMBIA CITY VETERANS PARK 62601 COLUMBIA RIVER HIGHWAY COLUMBIA CITY, OR 97018 Present: Sally Ann Marson, Chair Nell Harrison, Committee Member Debra Hebard, Committee Member Stan Hopkins, Committee Member Kathleen Devlin, Committee Member Jack Hruska, Committee Member Leahnette Rivers, City Administrator/Recorder Veterans Park: Committee Members were pleased with the new challenge coins. Coins will be distributed as tokens of appreciation to Memorial Day ceremony participants and otherwise as needed, and coins will also be sold for $15.00 and proceeds ($10.00) will be dedicated to Veteran Park maintenance. Members discussed the stain that was recently applied to the all American monument, as well as the maintenance requirements of all of the monuments with regard to the deposits that are accumulating from the water. Members agreed that Jason Jones should be hired to routinely clean the monuments during the remainder of the watering season for an amount of $225.00 per month. Meanwhile, staff will research other long-term solutions including investigating the purchase of a water softening system and contacting a sprinkler contractor for advice about potential system changes that might reduce or eliminate the problem. Members noted that the cherry trees along the bike path need some water. Harvard Park: Kathleen plans to do some watering in the park. Members inquired about the status of the see saw order.
