Attendees: Bianca Gonzalez-De La Rosa, Ana La Scoezec, Deana Hall, Marisol Shaw, America Carbajal, Councilmembers Craig Kim & Renee Chacon. Absent: Iona LongSoldier, Marco Vega, Scott Vanhuesen, Cynthia Montez 2. Land Acknowledgement & Rules of the Road Bianca facilitated 3. Public Comment None 4. Ice Breaker: What's something you did during your July/August time away? Group shared their fun summer things. 5. Approval of Minutes Min 24-117 Councilmember Chacon motioned to approve the minutes. Councilmember Kim seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously. 6. Old Business A. Collection of resources Commission reviewed their previous conversation on this topic. Inactive Members - Process for Removal Commission reviewed the bylaws and discussed next steps in addressing inactive members. Marisol motioned to update the bylaws, which was seconded by Ana and approved unanimously. Bylaws are updated to: If a commission member has been absent for 3 months within a calendar year, the chair can send the member an email to suggest a self-resignation to make space for additional community members who are interested in joining the commission. 7. New Business A. September's 2025 Planning Retreat i. Date, Location, Facilitation, Agenda Setting Scheduled for 9/21 from 9am-1pm. Councilmember Kim motioned to approve $800 for food and facility fees at the retreat. Bianca seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously. Agenda: goals, work plans & budget, projects and process, DEI lens on policy, messaging to community B. DEI Needs Assessment Presentation Staff to get update on presentation to share 8. Upcoming Events A. Hispanic Heritage Tabling & Materials (9/22, 11a-3p) Scott will be at the table all day. Bianca will share a sign up genius for that event. B. Proclamations: 10/7 (Indigenous Peoples' Day) & 10/21 (Native American Heritage Month) We have proclamations from previous years. Discussed involving communities to put together proclamations.
