Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting called to order 6:05 p.m. Members Present: Brendan Binns, Bruce Emery, Brent Loomis, Justin Maillet, Bret Walker Staff Members Present: Carolyn Keith, Karen O'Donnell, Amy Hendricks Guest Presenter: Justin Cutler, CPRA Legislative Committee, City of Westminster 2. Approval of Minutes No quorum; action to be taken at January meeting. 3. Unfinished Business 17-81 2018 Topics, Fundraising, and Meeting Schedule (No Meetings in Apr/May) 2018 Topics - Members suggested the following meeting topics for consideration: - Upcoming projects and park improvements; CIP - Presentation and discussion of new/additional weight room equipment at both recreation centers - Updates on the construction/opening of the Bison Ridge Recreation Center and renovation of the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center - Communication outreach efforts for residents who may not know what amenities are available - Youth sports program outreach and organization education - Bicycle Share Program - Bicycle lanes - HEAL Program - 5k, 10k, and marathon runs in Commerce City - Aquatics - Summer Camp Fundraising - There was general discussion about ways to support future fundraising efforts by the Quality Community Foundation for programs that benefit Commerce City. 2018 Meeting Schedule - No quorum; no action this meeting. Staff will anticipate the group will meet monthly in 2018. New Business 17-83 Why Advocacy Matters Attachments: Presentation Guest Justin Cutler gave a presentation on how parks, recreation, and golf amenities impact communities. He spoke to how these amenities can drive economic development opportunities and progress parks and recreation initiatives, prevent crime, and protect public infrastructure. See attached presentation. Let the record show Co chair Walker joined the meeting at 6:15 p.m. discussed and closed 17-84 Pledge of Allegiance Discussion Members in attendance discussed their support for citing the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each meeting. To be discussed at the January, 2018 meeting. continued 5. Committee Member Reports & Information Members shared general information and updates. 6. PRG Announcements Distributed to members via email November 9, and available on www.c3gov.com. Recreation Manager, Karen O’Donnell shared that the Senior Advisory Committee has selected “Eagle Point Active Adult Center” as the new name for the senior center. She also distributed 2017-2018 nomination forms for the Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award. Director, Carolyn Keith reminded the group that in lieu of a December meeting, there will be a social on December 19, at 6:00 p.m. at Buffalo Run Golf Course. 7.
