Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m. Attendees: Brendan Binns, Mary Hogan Chan, Bruce Emery, Alejandro Garcia, Joshua Houde, Justin Maillet, Adam Vernanzi, Bret Walker, Jacob WIlson Absent: Steve Douglas, Paul Welander Staff Present: Carolyn Keith, Karen O'Donnell, Tim Moore, Maria Jepson 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Binns, seconded by Member Wilson to approve the April 16, 2019 minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. 3. New Business 19-23 Youth/Adult Sports Overview - Tim Moore Attachments: ATHLETICS PRESENTATION Recreation Supervisor, Tim Moore, reviewed the current structure of the Athletics Division and the programming that is offered. He gave an overview of the staff and a breakdown of the various sports, number of teams, demographics of participants and how these are currently managed, and the coordination and cooperation with other local sports organizations. 19-39 Eagle Pointe Activity Review - Karen O'Donnell Attachments: Recreation Update Recreation Manager, Karen O’Donnell, presented information regarding the CDBG Scholarship funds that have been utilized since July 1, 2018. She shared newly created promotional material and spoke on the efforts engaged to communicate and share the availability of these funds for those who are able to benefit from them. Committee members requested additional information regarding Eagle Pointe’s usage since reopening, crossover numbers, membership details for both locations, and details regarding the new, no cost veteran memberships. Karen O’Donnell shared that there were changes coming the social media outlets with the launch later in the week of the NEW Parks, Recreation and Golf Facebook page, Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final May 21, 2019 Advisory Committee as well as an Instagram feed to share information on classes, programs, services and facilities. 4. Future Agenda 19-40 Service Sustainability/Non-profit use of facilities Update - Carolyn Keith Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf, Carolyn Keith, invited members to attend the June 10, 2019 City Council Study Session at which time they will be reviewing the Service Sustainability Model, philosophy and fee levels. The meeting will be in room 2108 at the Civic Center. This information will also be reviewed at the next Parks, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee meeting. 5. City Council Member Updates No members of council present. Steve Davis recently appointed to fill the current committee vacancy. 6. Committee Member Reports & Information - Members shared general information and updates. - The Second Creek renovation project was postponed at the May 20, 2019 City Council meeting for further review. - Great job on the Pancake Breakfast at Eagle Pointe! - Paradice Island Outdoor Leisure Pool opens May 25, 2019 for the summer season. - May 27th is the City’s 55th Annual Memorial Day Parade. - Need to look for options to collaborate with QCF for scholarship opportunities. 7.
