Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. Attendees: Mary Hogan Chan, Bruce Emery, Joshua Houde, Justin Maillet, Adam Vernanzi, Bret Walker, Paul Welander Absent: Steve Davis, Steve Douglas, Brendan Binns, Alejandro Garcia, Jacob WIlson Staff Present: Carolyn Keith, Karen O'Donnell, Paul Hebinck, Maria Jepson 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Houde, seconded by Member Hogan Chan to approve the May 21, 2019 minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. This was approved 3. Unfinished Business 19-31 Open Space Restoration Update - Carolyn Keith Attachments: Open Space Restoration Presentation Director of Parks and Recreation, Carolyn Keith, thanked Paul Welander for attending the City Council meeting and speaking during the community comment time on June 3, 2019. Council had previously taken action on and tabled the Open Space Restoration in order to obtain more information on wildlife management. The plan is to return to Council with additional information in late July or August. This Administrative Business was continued 19-39 Eagle Pointe Activity Review - Karen O'Donnell Attachments: Recreation Update Recreation Manager, Karen O’Donnell, provided updated membership numbers and details regarding the no-cost Veteran memberships provided since the program began last year. New Business 19-40 Service Sustainability/Non-profit use of facilities Update - Carolyn Keith Director of Parks and Recreation, Carolyn Keith, shared that the City Council considered and approved making community rooms accessible to non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations, that are located or provide services in Commerce City, at no charge at the council meeting on June 17, 2019. This designation waives only the rental fees and is applicable for activities held at the Eagle Pointe and Bison Ridge Recreation Center facilities. Additionally, Mayor Ford and other Council members requested to have recreation center passes provided at no charge as awards for community activities and accomplishments. This Administrative Business was continued 5. Future Agenda 19-47 Inclusion Policy - Karen O'Donnell Attachments: INCLUSION POLICY PRESENTATION 19-48 Park Maintenance - Date TBD 6. City Council Member Updates No members of council present; currently attending Colorado Municipal League conference in Breckenridge, CO. 7. Committee Member Reports and Information Committee members thanked and congratulated the Parks, Recreation and Golf staff and volunteers for the amazing Outreach event on June 13, 2019 at Fronterra Park. The band and everyone working it was outstanding. Overall count was 950 attendees and 1,300 hot dogs served. 8. PRG Announcements Distributed to all members via email on May 15, 2019 and available on www.c3gov.com. Parks, Recreation and Golf Advisory Committee members are welcome to attend the July 1, 2019 the City Council meeting at 6 pm where council members will recognize a proclamation designating July as National Park and Recreation month. July will also bring a social media photo contest focused on sharing pictures of people engaging within the community at Commerce City parks, rec centers, trails and the golf course using #GameOn tag line to tie in with the NRPA national promotion. PRG Advisory Committee members will review and judge the submissions. Prizes still being finalized. Commerce City Page 2 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final June 18, 2019 Advisory Committee The Buffalo Run Golf Course the lake dredge project is underway and should be wrapped up by the beginning of August. The sediment that is extracted will be reused within area city after it dries out. Buffalo Run also has a Salute to Service Veterans program. The goal is to have 100 participants in the upcoming six-week program. 9. Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 6:54 p.m. Commerce City Page 3
