and what they would like to accomplish
Members shared why they joined the committee and what they would like to
accomplish.
The input received from participants included:
• Understand the north and south sides of Commerce City, how we can effectively
bring each side together, and what we can do as a group to bridge that gap. Each side
has different needs in all aspects of parks, recreation, and golf. Finding what that
balance is.
• Involvement in senior programs for the active seniors in our community; wants to
see more active programming including outdoor activities, outdoor pickle ball courts,
and outdoor tennis courts in our neighborhoods.
• Keeping the neighborhoods off highway 85 involved, Henderson area. It's still
considered Commerce City.
• Connectivity of trails, paths, and bike lanes to all city amenities.

• It's our civic duty to serve our community that everyone should take advantage of.
Opportunity to provide feedback and make recommendations as a citizen.
• Learn and understand how a city operates and specifically a city park and
recreation department.
• A few people mentioned wanting in person meetings to resume.
21-40 5 Year Capital Improvement Project (CIPP) Review - 2022 Proposed
Budget - Carolyn Keith
Attachments: PRGAC CIP Update
Director Keith, provided a Capital Improvement Project update including a review of the
three types of projects: Traditional (new development), Operational (renovation of
existing) and Preservation (repair and replacement). We are currently in the process of
preparing the 2022 budget.
The five year Capital Improvement Plan is now focusing on maintaining facilities and
resources after completing several items of new development and renovations in recent
years. Funding sources are essential and the City has had great success with utilizing
grant opportunities. Ongoing repair and replacement is essential in relation to safety
and liability concerns which includes incorporating better connectivity along trails and
major roadways. Members provided feedback on amenities that may need repair, are
potential future opportunities, as well as requesting updates on the Villages East Park
soil progress and Ragweed ball fields project and other efforts undertaken to minimize
the impact of mother nature and wildlife on the City’s parks and open areas.
