Call To Order/Roll Call/Pledge of Allegiance - 6:00 PM Meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm by Co-Chair Walker. Members Present: DeLilah Collins, Jose Guardiola, Josh Houde, Craig Hurst, Shawn McDowell, Kendall Ryerson, Bret Walker, Paul Welander Absent: Clark Berggren, Alejandro Garcia, Katie Southard PRG Staff present: Carolyn Keith, Chad Redin, Paul Hebinck, Lisa Nordholt, Maria Jepson Guest: Angela Burgos, Finance Department Budget and Performance Analyst and Commerce City resident and Terrance Coon, Commerce City resident. 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member McDowell seconded by Member Ryerson to approve the June 15, 2021 minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. 3. Committee Member Update - Introduction of New Member This was continued 4. New Business 21-121 Selection of New Co-Chair This Administrative Business was continued 21-122 Review of Scheduled Meeting Dates/Locations There was discussion of possibly moving meetings to bi-monthly (every two months). Members Guardiola and Hurst suggested continuing meeting every month, especially with the Comprehensive Plan coming up so the committee can provide feedback about recreation programs and amenities. It was also suggested to shorten the meeting time if there is a light agenda. Other recommendations were to utilize email correspondence more and provide the opportunity for hybrid meetings or do an Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final August 17, 2021 Advisory Committee alternating schedule of in person and zoom meetings. Co-Chair Walker stated that based on the discussion that the committee will continue with the monthly meeting schedule via virtual zoom meetings. 21-125 PRG Overview PRG Strategic Initiatives Supervisor Nordholt reviewed the PRG Overview presentation for creating communities. Highlights included two CPRA awards: the 2019 New Facility Design Award for Bison Ridge Recreation Center and the 2020 Programming Award for Female First Responders. In addition, the Eagle’s Nest Playground opened at Veteran’s Memorial Park and the Turnberry Skate Spot is currently in development. Buffalo Run also participated in PGA Hope which is a golf rehabilitative program for veterans, reservists and active duty military. 5. Council Member Reports Upcoming Paint-a-thon Volunteer Program is Saturday, August 28th. 6. Committee Member Reports Saturday, August 21st will be the 25 year anniversary celebration for Buffalo run Golf Course. All members are invited to attend. There will be fun activities, food, tips from the golf pros, a putting competition and giveaways. Members that might want to participate or help out with handing out prizes are encouraged to attend, 10am to 2pm. The Curt Holland Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, August 20th. Members are invited to stop by around 1:30 to say hello when the golfers are coming off the course. Annual Facility Closures for annual maintenance – Bison Ridge – Aug. 23 – Sept. 3 Eagle Pointe – Sept. 7 – Sept. 17 Fall Registration started Aug 3. All fall programming is back to 100% operations. Registration is open for the Annual Fishing Frenzy Derby on Sept. 25. Paradice Island is open weekends only through Labor Day. 7.
