Call To Order/Roll Call/Pledge of Allegiance - 6:00 PM Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Co-Chair Houde. Members Present: DeLilah Collins, Rick Davis, Josh Houde, Shawn McDowell, Kaitlin Nares, Chris Niyork, Michael Stegman, Bret Walker Absent: Clark Berggren, Alejandro Garcia, Craig Hurst, Katie Southard PRG Staff present: Chad Redin, Paul Hebinck, Maria Jepson Guest: Terrance Coon - Commerce City resident 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Stegman seconded by Member Davis to approve the May 17, 2022 minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. 3. New Business 22-107 Future Meeting Topic Discussion - Josh Houde, DeLilah Collins Attachments: 6-21 Future Meeting Topics Co-Chair Houde reviewed the agenda topic survey results with the committee and invited members to share feedback on the questions in the presentation. 1. Would PRG Advisory Committee Members like to change the format for monthly meeting? 2. Would you like meetings to include interactive programming? Discussion: • Be an ambassador for PRG • Hand out passes or give-a-ways to members of community • Wear the PRG Advisory Committee shirt and engage with people in the community; bringing back that feedback to the committee • Go on the trails to see the conditions and talk to the other users; rotating between north and south parts of the City • Share feedback with staff at the meeting • For the PRG Master plan will there be group discussions or sub groups within the committee • Members going together into the community for engagement • Partner with other events to engage with the community (ie: Turkey Trot, Paint & Sip) Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final June 21, 2022 Advisory Committee • Schedule community engagement activities every other month or take advantage of impromptu opportunities for engagement as they arise while in the parks/trails/centers • Continue with current schedule of monthly meetings with an item on the agenda for members to share feedback with the committee and staff • Incorporate new reporting item on agenda for Interaction/Engagement Updates and Feedback 3. What topics would PRG Advisory Committee Members like for City Staff to cover at future meetings? 4. Would individual committee members like to meet one on one with City staff? 5. How do committee members advocate for parks, recreation & golf within the community? 6. How might the PRG Advisory Committee work with other City boards and commissions? Discussion: • Limit to one presentation per meeting or limit the items on the agenda in order to not go over the meeting time • Park Safety or Public Safety related to parks/trails • Youth Sports • Public Works/Parks Maintenance • Partnership opportunities with other committees for activities in the parks • Bring all City committees together • Funding/grant opportunities • Economic development • Home development statistics/demographics 7. What do you want to accomplish as a PRG Advisory Committee Member? Discussion: • Drive for the PRG amenities for all residents of all ages • Be a liaison between residents and staff • Advocate for open space within developments and industrial growth, long term • Build a legacy of where you live, be a part of the growth • Support PRG for the massive growth that Commerce City will continue to have • Find opportunities for bringing large sports facility/tournaments to Commerce City • Be an advocate for the City and our neighborhoods • Infrastructure connections within the City for youth recreation opportunities • Future/long term growth 4. Council Member Reports & Information The proclamation declaring July as Parks & Recreation Month was signed at the last City Council meeting. 5. Committee Member Reports & Information Governor Polis announced grant funds available for lifeguard staffing shortages (wages/incentives/bonuses). Bike to Work Day could be a future opportunity for community engagement. The Buffalo Run irrigation replacement project will begin July 1 and continue through the end of the year. 6.
