Call To Order/Roll Call/Pledge of Allegiance - 6:00 PM Meeting was called to order at 6:02 pm by Co-Chair Houde. Members Present: DeLilah Collins, Josh Houde, Desiree Martinelli, Susan Noble, Michael Stegman, Oz Flores, Shawn McDowell, Paul Welander Absent: Katie Southard, Kaitlin Nares, Alejandro Garcia, Craig Hurst, Chris Niyork Staff present: Chad Redin, Tim Duda, Candice Turnage Guest: Karl Zimmerman, City Resident Let the record show that Member Noble joined the meeting at 6:04 p.m., Member Flores joined the meeting at 6:06 p.m. and Member McDowell joined the meeting at 6:50 p.m. 2. Approval of Minutes The approval of the April minutes were tabled until a quorum was present to approve them. A motion was made by Member Stegman seconded by Member Martinelli to approve the April 18, 2023, minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. Min 23-139 Minutes of the April 18, 2023 Meeting Attachments: Minutes 3. Citizen Communication Karl Zimmerman spoke on the following: meeting minutes being posted to the City website prior to the next meeting; previously requested budget information on the irrigation and drainage projects at Buffalo Run Golf Course and has not received it; how and when was the golf course irrigation project proposed; frustration with the condition of Buffalo Run Golf Course, requested the letter he wrote to City staff be shared with the PRG Advisory Committee before the next meeting, requested time on the agenda to review his letter. 4. Unfinished Business Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final May 16, 2023 Advisory Committee 23-054 Recommendations for promotional items to give away at events - Josh Houde and DeLilah Collins (no attached documents/discussion only) Co-chair Collins shared the results of the online survey for promotional items. #1 – reusable tote bags #2 (4 way tie) – frisbee, device wall charger, blanket, sweat towel The committee discussed options for items, quantities, timeline for receiving orders, logos, and possibly bundling giveaways at events. The committee decided on reusable tote bags, frisbees and sweat towels with the Parks, Rec and Golf logo. Deputy Director Redin will research costs/quantities and reach out to the committee to get confirmation to proceed with the order for the $3,500 budgeted for promotional items. 5. New Business N/A 6. Community Engagement/Interaction Updates & Feedback 23-108 Disc Golf Presentation - Paul Welander Attachments: 5-16 Presentation Member Welander reviewed a presentation with the committee on the disc golf course at Fronterra Park and an overview of the sport, equipment and an interactive map of disc golf courses (Udisc). 7. Council Member Reports & Information Council Member Noble shared the following information: • The Senior Resource Fair will be held June 17th • Each of the wards for City Council will be doing Town halls on Wednesday nights through June • City Council passed twenty new building codes to keep residents and the community safer • Impact fees were increased • Due to recent rainfall, there has been flooding at 96th and First Creek. Suncor also flooded which caused toxins to flow into the Burlington ditch however CDPHE advised the level was not high enough to cause health problems. • There is an oil and gas site that is planning to do fracking from 116th down to Second Creek and to Tower Road. • It’s Public Works Week and Police Week 8. Committee Member Reports & Information Member Welander reported on his ride along with Park Ranger Holland. Co-chair Collins asked for staff to provide an update to the committee on the details for the upcoming Triathlon so members can give feedback. 9. PRG Announcements Commerce City Page 2 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final May 16, 2023 Advisory Committee Distributed to all members via email on May 11, 2023. Deputy Director Redin is looking at dates in July/August on a Saturday to schedule a City Tour for the committee. Date options will be shared with the committee. Also looking to schedule a joint meeting with the Brighton Parks, Recreation & Golf Advisory Committee at their site. More information to follow. Celebration to be held at Bison Ridge on May 27 to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of its opening.
