Call To Order/Roll Call Present: Mayor Pro Tem Rick Teter, Carole Harvell, Bruce Reilly, Tillie Villareal, George Maxey, Jennie Loveridge, Carli Plummer Absent: Councilman Benjamin Huseman, Bruce Emery, Charles Christ, Jean Tapia-Smith, Robert Sheetz, Thelma Cole Present Staff: Brian McBroom, Jodi Hardee 2. Approval of Minutes Minutes 12/13/2018 Attachments: Minutes Mayor Pro Tem Teter motioned to approve the meeting minutes from December. Commissioner Villareal seconded. Motion was approved. 3. New Business Jodi Hardee from the city’s communications division provided background on the city’s “On the Move” Active Adult newsletter that is distributed to approximately 850 older adults via mailing list and in-person at the recreation centers. The commission discussed ways to improve list building (opt-in forms at events), and how to engage Spanish speakers (produce more collateral in Spanish). Hardee stated that all Senior Commission events or programs (such as Speaker Series) would be cross promoted in the city’s print and digital platforms. The commission discussed if the group was ready to implement the community speaker series or if more information about available community resources was needed. City Staff will connect with Senior Resources Coordinator Steve Latham for a list of frequently asked resources. The commission will build a draft list of suggested speakers and topics based off of this data. 4. Other Other topics of discussion included transportation and cross promotion of events between the City’s two recreation centers. 5. Announcements The commission was invited to attend the Eagle Pointe Rededication Ceremony on January 15. The commission agreed to keep the regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 14.
