Call To Order/Roll Call A regular meeting of the Veterans Commission of the City of Commerce City was called to order on August 15, 2023, at 6:00 PM by Chair Reed Guests: Vicki Masters Juan Lopez Present 5 - Commissioner Eloy Espinoza, Commissioner Gary Reed, Commissioner Kevin Reed, Commissioner Scott Hefty, and Commissioner Travis Watkins Absent 6 - Commissioner Benjamin Huseman, Commissioner David Lewis, Commissioner Erik Melendez, Commissioner Kathryn Nay, Commissioner Mark Chadwick, and Commissioner Oscar Madera 2. Approval of Minutes Min 23-208 Meeting Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Reed, seconded by Commissioner Hefty, that 4/18/23 and 7/18/23 Minutes be Approved . VOICE VOTE: Unanimous, all present affirmed. 3. Public Comment - Juan Lopez introduced himself and talked about being prior commission Vicki Masters Introduced herself 4. Veterans Day Event Planning Would like to do a flag raising at civic center around 7:30 AM Would like to do a flag raising at veterans memorial at 9:00 Am Event at Eagle Point from 9:00 AM till 2:00 PM Event at Bison Ridge from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Flier was designed and was looking to get it sent out at rec centers A motion was made by Commissioner Hefty, seconded by Commissioner Espinoza, that this be approved. VOICE VOTE: Unanimous, all present affirmed. 5. 2023 Work Plan/Budget Commerce City Page 1 Veterans Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 15, 2023 Would like to order wooden coins, crayon packs from Amazon, Print out Veterans Coloring Sheets for Veterans Day Event Gary Reed made a motion to Spend up to $250.00 to order wooden coins , Crayon packets and coloring sheets Travis Watkins Seconded the motion Motion Passed 5 - 0 Talked about ordering another 200 of the 1.5 Coins and 50 of the 2 inch coins Scott Hefty Made a motion to spend up to $1,000 to purchase more metal coins. Eloy Espinosa seconded the motion Motion Passed 5 - 0 6. Other Business/Open Forum Discussed ways of using the remaining budget going forward 7.
