City of Coralville Board of Adjustment Meeting August 18, 2014 Staff: Jim Kessler, Building & Zoning Official Item 1: Meeting called to order 6:02 PM Item 2: Member present: Rice, Nicola, Boucher , and Szczech. Absent: Wells Others present: Jerry Waddilove & Jim Walker of Southgate Development Item 3: Approval of July 21, 2014 Minutes. Boucher : Motion to Approve. Nicola: Motion Seconded. Motion carried: Item 4: Public Hearing request by Southgate Development Services is for a Variance to Section 165.22 (6) (B) rear yard setback. This property is located at 1101 Ryan Circle. Public Hearing open: Waddilove and Walker with Southgate Development presented their case for a variance of 3.71' in a rear yard setback at 1101 Ryan Circle. The general reason given was the lot configuration made it impossible to build the house which included a covered porch. Public Hearing closed: Rice stated that this was a hardship of their making so a variance could not be granted. The other commission members agreed. a) Consider approval of the Variance. Boucher : Motion to Approve. NO : Motion Seconded. Motion Defeated: 4-0 Item 5: Adjourn Meeting Boucher : Motion to Adjourn @ 6:20pm. Nicola: Motion Seconded.
