City of Coralville Board of Adjustment Meeting March 16, 2015 Staff: Jim Kessler, Building & Zoning Official and Dee Marshek, Administrative Assistant Item 1: Meeting called to order 6:03 PM Item 2: Member present: Boucher, Wells, and Nicola. Absent: Szczech and Knudson Others present: Jake Moore of the Coralville Hy-Vee Item 3: Approval of August 18, 2014 Minutes. Boucher: Motion to approve. Nicola: 2nd Motion Motion carried: 3-0 Item 4: Election of Co-chair. Postponed until all members are present. Item 5: Public Hearing request for a Conditional Use Permit of a Lawn & Garden Center for Hy-Vee located at 2008 8th Ave. Public Hearing open: Jim Kessler explains the Lawn & Garden Center will be moved to the southeast corner of the parking lot, now that the onsite construction at Hy-Vee has been completed. Jake Moore of the local Hy-Vee discusses the layout and setup of the new Lawn & Garden area. Public Hearing closed: a) Consider approval of the Conditional Use Permit. Boucher: Motion to approve. Wells: Motion 2nd. Motion Carried: 3 – 0 Item 6: Public Hearing request for a Conditional Use Permit of a Lawn & Garden Center for Theisen’s located at 100 Westcor Drive. Public Hearing open: Public Hearing closed: Wells ask if this is in the same spot, and remarks that it seem to work well at this end of the parking lot.  a) Consider approval of the Conditional Use Permit. Wells: Motion to approve. Boucher: Motion 2nd. Motion Carried: 3 – 0 Item 7: Public Hearing request for a Conditional Use Permit for a Lawn & Garden Center for Wal-Mart located at 2801 Commerce Drive. Public Hearing open: Public Hearing closed: Kessler states this request is the same as last year. a) Consider approval of the Conditional Use Permit. Wells: Motion to approve Nicola: Motion 2nd. Motion Carried: 3– 0 Item 8: Public Hearing request for a Conditional Use Permit for a Lawn & Garden Center for Lenoch & Cilek, located at 1701 2nd Street. Public Hearing open: Public Hearing closed: Kessler adds that the Lawn & Garden Center is moving back to the west side of the building, like it has been in previous years (unlike last year). Wells questions the overall size? Boucher asks if the City has any concerns about relocating back to the previous location ? Kessler states we’ll check on the size and the City hasn’t any concerns over the location, it seems to work well on the west side of the parking area. a) Consider approval of the Conditional Use Permit.
