Review Minutes a. Regular Meeting July 5, 2022 - approved with correction by Tai, Sam seconded 3. Old Business: a. Continue discussion of Stakeholder outreach 4. New Business: a. Dave @ 3rd Thursday review i. Dave made a sandwich board ii. handouts by Becky and Dave iii. Sam was ill and couldn’t go iv. Becky caught Dave and said we needed approval for the sandwich board/etc by CREA/AJ v. Rich Landrith has a water booth with the City of Cortez. He might share a booth per Rachael but we need to reach out vi. David Rainey wants to make sure that we indicate that this is confidential b. Dave discussion with TJ Zark: Making of Mancos Creative District i. Dave met with the Chair of the Mancos Creative District ii. hurdles 1. The biggest challenge was to get the town council on board which took them 6 years. They have also gone through many creative directors 2. you need someone who understands the arts but is economically minded, the position is hard to fill because of this reason 3. they also had an all volunteer board and that may have hindered them as well 4. don’t say yes to everything - have the discipline to say no. have a clear mission and follow that iii. good things 1. they feed you grants after you get established 2. annual summit and workshop iv. three ways a creative district would benefit Cortez v. board 1. financia, management, diverse board, connects to artists, connects to merchants 2. 501(c)3 non-profit vi. TJ will be happy to come visit with us at a future meeting c.
