Cortez Public Art Advisory Committee (CPAAC) Agenda December 4, 2023, 5 PM Cortez City Hall, Mesa Verde Room Attendance: Tai Rogers, Helen West, Sascha Steinberg, Erik Quiroz, Lydia Regalado, Anne Beach, Matt Josef, David Rainey, Ellis McNichol, Jacob McIntosh 1. Call to Order: 5:00p 2. Introduction of those present a. Welcome new member – Jacob McIntosh b. Public Input/Comments – McNichol mentioned that LOR has the capacity to foot the bill for art events as they are looking for people with certain specialties so they can create something worthy. 3. Approval of Minutes from November 6, 2023; Moved by Beach, Seconded by Quiroz, all were in favor 4. Old Business a. Skatepark Mural; No update b. Third Thursday – The City is waiting to see who the new event manager may be. c. Committee Vacancies – youth –; The proposed meeting date is December 15th at 1p afternoon for whoever within the committee would like to go and meet with them. d. CCA & 81321 Launch Update; West met with Nikki, we just need to revamp the outline and send to Nikki so she can send to Onward. Jodi would like us to take this over. The original conception is that LOR would provide funds. The City Manager would like to know more details. West handed out a proposed outlay. McNichol suggested that the outreach is clear so that there is no confusion. Beach suggested the structure to be the same as what LOR requires which is problem-solution oriented. Various discussions and ideas were brought up, and a more thought out plan will be put forth in January. e. Historic Preservation Day & Historic Cortez Coloring Book; LOR has agreed to fund the coloring book. Because it is done by Cortez the Historical Preservation Board as well as the Arts committees we want to focus on places and sites with historical value to Cortez. Historical Preservation day is in May and West would like Cortez artists to put in their submissions. There is also potential for a downloadable copy. Everyone who enters gets a free book and $5 Cortez Cash. For submissions that are selected by The Arts Committee, LOR has agreed to give them $100 Cortez Cash. The submission chosen for the front cover will receive $250 Cortez Cash. 5. New Business a. Update from Committee Members; Quiroz; Sunflower is planning a build out for projector they just bought. They are starting from scratch. Their test show is getting kicked back. McIntosh is leading a Christmas sing-along at Zu Gallery this upcoming Saturday. Steinberg; Ghost tours are doing 3 or 4 weekend roll outs. Upcoming items include hunting and farming zeines which will occur throughout the year. West; West is in charge of a significant grant for businesses to receive up to 50 thousand dollars. 7.
