Cortez Public Art Advisory Committee (CPAAC) Minutes January 8, 2024, 5 PM Cortez City Hall, Mesa Verde Room Attendance: Tai Rogers, Sascha Steinberg, Helen West, Lydia Regalado, David Rainey, Nyx Poulin, Anne Beach, Jacob McIntosh 1. Call to Order: 5:00p 2. Introduction of those present: Introducing Nyx Poulin, new youth member, to everyone in the committee. a. Public Input/Comments: Isabella Sharpenstein has resigned as Library Director and is now back to being a clerk. Baxstrom is the interim director. b. Presentation of Grateful Tree project: The community wrote what they were great FALL for on a poster board with a tree and fall background that Anne Beach created. West will take a few photos so it can be posted by our public information officer. 3. Approval of Minutes from December 4, 2023, meeting 4. Old Business a. Skatepark Mural: (no update) b. Third Thursday: (no update) – West is meeting with Creighton Wreight soon. c. CCA & 81321 Launch Update: Per West, this is going through the LOR foundation. We are doing small grants so others apply for an arts-based project for Cortez. All is progressing well. There is an application on the 81321 website. West will send members the application for review. West is meeting with Jodi Jahrling about first Friday. We are waiting for a new event manager to talk about Third Thursday. d. Historic Preservation Day & Historic Cortez Coloring Book; LOR will fund the coloring book and the Board will put out ad. Montezuma Cortez Highschool posted that they are accepting applications. The due date for submissions is February 20th, 11:59 PM and West will post the application soon. Anyone with a strong connection to Cortez is encouraged to apply. 5. New Business a. Change meeting time (to help accommodate youth): Poulin has rehearsals that go until 6p until they are done in May, not every Monday, but often. McIntosh can’t do Wednesdays. Beach enjoys Mondays at our current 5p time. We are keeping it on Monday for now, and moving to 6:30p. Rogers motioned, seconded by McIntosh. Our next meeting will be February 5th at 6:30. 6. Update from Committee Members: McIntosh: The sing-a-long had a great turn out. There are no upcoming shows.  Cortez Public Art Advisory Committee (CPAAC) Minutes January 8, 2024, 5 PM Cortez City Hall, Mesa Verde Room Rogers is running for city council. Steinberg: Squirrel Congress is meeting next week to plan ghost tours. She will bring images that she created for a logo to pass around and show. There will be the ability for private tours and may have a few pop-up tours. Rainey’s art show is at The Cortez Public Library for the month of January. 7. Adjourn: 6:04 PM 8.
