Cortez Public Art Advisory Committee (CPAAC) Agenda July 1, 2024, 5 PM Cortez City Hall, Mesa Verde Room Attendance: 1. Call to Order: 5:08P T 2. Introduction of those present: Sascha Steinberg, Anne Beach, Nyx Poulin, Lydia Regalado, Helen West, Erik Quiroz a. Public Input/ Comments: None R 3. Approval of minutes from June 6, 2024 meeting: Beach Motion, Poulin Second 4. Old Business: AF a. Ad Hoc Meeting Schedule: We will talk about the history of the arts committee for new members and the process and planning around becoming a Creative Arts District. We will wait on Rogers who wants to hold this meeting. b. Third Thursday Updates*: i. July 18: West, Beach & Rogers (Steinberg is out of town, Poulin is available). 1. Painted Rocks, Community Coloring, Take Home coloring Book Pages, sample book, CPAAC flyers. Steinberg will deliver the rocks to Beach. Steinberg is waiting for the color confirmation and then will get this information to Quiroz. D ii. Need more people to help in August & September: c. 81321 Launch*: Committee meeting on July 11 at noon, City Hall West: Applications have been received and will be sent out to the board soon. d. Update from Committee Members: Quiroz: Will apply for 81321 launch to help fund an award-winning play at the Sunflower this year. Just hired a theater manager from LA who will do the launch application. Quiroz T Hollywood production also may come to the Sunflower this year. Poulin: Community band is doing a 4th of July performance in Rico around noon. HS Theater Dept. is traveling to Farmington; Damn Yankees at Sandstone Theater 7/19 R Beach; Grand Summer nights 7/13 in downtown Mancos; Goat Head is playing in Pioneer Plaza Steinberg; August tickets are on sale for the Ghost Tour - 1st weekend of August will start the first tour. They will begin preparing for Halloween afterwards. Tickets can be purchased at AF Cortezghosttours.org West: Mancos Opera House is having a Visioning Session (ideas for the future) Monday, July 8th from 5:30P-7P. The Coloring Book came out. July 4th there are a lot of events happening for The City of Cortez, check out the Facebook Page for more information. Two chapters of the LUC are out for public consumption. Upcoming in LUC is Landscaping, parking, and lighting. The LUC Board is not currently in favor of lighting restrictions to protect our Dark Sky; members of the public will need to show up at the meetings if they want to see any changes.
