anyone is interested in looking into how communities can become Creative Arts District,
Rogers recommends looking into https://callyourselfcreative.org/. The Arts Committee

2. Library Art Events - David Rainey, former council members, Helen will hand off contact
info to Heather Roe. We could be a connecting point for artists to venues. Josef feels
that a month-long show is too short, especially for a public space, just getting into this
space and suggests 2 or 3 months. Dolores and Mancos libraries already do this, we
could reach out to Mancos/Dolores for their documents and how they do it.
3. Skate Park - An interested parent wants to hold a “paint the park” event towards the
beginning of the year. A community event, understood that this painting would NOT be
forever. What are the decisions points (funding, turn around - when is the concrete park,
how long would the paint be on there - creating layers create hazards and certain paints
aren’t good to skate on, hesitant to pull the trigger on something short term, and there
are artists interested in helping kids - teaching students how to do nicer and quality
street art, does this parent have a lot of kids interested in paint - can’t do this with 6
kids, need 30 kids, then we need 30 paint brushes and pizza) Standard - could talk about
youth mental health and anti violence which can also open funding. Want to plan an
event to do something right and well. West will talk with Parks & Rec about skate park
repair plans.
4. Creative District & how MLN can help - Standard can support community readiness,
creative arts district development especially around project management, documents
and procedures. A Creative Arts District needs a sustained $10,000 and a part time
dedicated staff.
6. Update from Committee Members:
