HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD Historic and/or Architectural Advisory Board City of Cortland May 12, 2015 A regular meeting of the Historic and/or Architectural Review Board was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, in the Mayor’s Conference Room at City Hall at 8:00 am. Present: Commissioners Christine Barnes, Mary Ann Kane, Richard Stock, Dan Dineen, Karina Murphy, Pam Abbott Absent: Chairperson Linda Kline Staff Present: Zoning Officer Bob Rhea, Secretary Shellie Blaisdell Item #1 – 117 Main Street/Cortland Diner – (Martinez)  Second sign for Main Street frontage Mr. Marinez would like to put up a new sign – round, with burgundy/red/black colors. The sign is 4 feet, ½ board for long term durability. The proposal is pleasant looking and is creative. Decision of Commission: A motion was made by Comm. Murphy to approve the application as presented with the owner choosing a color of choice presented to Commission. The motion was seconded by Comm. Barnes. Motion by: Comm. Murphy Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 6 Nays – 0 Item #2 – 64 Main Street – (Seales)  Main sign on the front of the building  A sign over the side door entrance  A new temporary sign in the front window  A window sticker and an outdoor seating area  Modifications to the main entrance  Landscaping on the side of the building Judd Seales presented his proposed project which he expresses “brings a type of Manhattan to Downtown with this new restaurant. The décor will have a warm feeling with windows having full view. The structural steel is to be removed from the outside of the building. The sign will include “64” in metal work and will be a significant sign of wrapped aluminum. The letters will be built on top of the metal plate and mimic the angle of the building. (Lighting will be presented later). The barricade outside will have seating area with tables and chairs. Brazilian wood which will be resistant to the elements and last 50+years. The current lighting will be removed at the entrance to the Marketplace Mall (awning). On the CITY OF CORTLAND – MAY 12, 2015 HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD West Court Street side the benches will be removed and a planned landscape area will be presented at a later time. Decision of Commission: A motion was made by Comm. Dineen to approve the application and including the signage and woodwork on the front of the building meeting code. Temporary sign comes down when the new one goes up. The motion was seconded by Comm. Barnes. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 6 Nays – 0 Adjournment: Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm.
